My review: Samsung Galaxy SII Extended Battery

I just had the official Samsung entended battery arrive via Amazon:

The new battery is rated at 2000 mAh, vs 1650 for the original.

Not much of a review, as i havent had time to benchmark in terms of battery life, but i thought it worth mentioning that my phone is now heavier, chunkier (it's a few millimeters thicker at what used to be it's thinnest point), and actually feels a lot more solid in the hand - instead of the rear being curved, it's now alot more 'straight' up and down, and the camera glass is also now protected whilst resting on a desk.
Frankly, any extra battery time is a bonus!

have you got an update on how the new battery performs? and do you think you could post some pics of the new battery on the phone? i don't follow when you say the back of the phone is more straight now - do you mean it doesn't have the curve bit at the bottom of the phone next to the speaker?

love how i came here for info on the new battery and this was at the top of the forum

Just bought one of these batteries with a £20 voucher from Amazon, still awaiting an update on the new batterylife it offers.

I'll add my own review next Wednesday after it arrives this Wednesday if MSIC hasn't done so already

Sorry, i think that gave me a kick up the backside!

See attached for photos as to how it 'flattens' the back, compared to the original.
After aboujt 2 weeks of using it now, I can say that I still really like the form-factor and weight, and the extra battery life is good although in truth hasnt dramatically changed how i use / charge the phone - but there have been more than a few times when I have gotten to 20% battery life and still been able to browse the net etc, when I know that otherwise i'd have drained the battery by then.

I took delivery of mine yesterday, and I have a sneaking suspicion that this was always meant to be the battery that was shipped with the GS II but I guess making "The World's Slimmest Smartphone" was more attractive to Samsung.

The REALLY does feel and look a lot better with the added wait and filled out rear

That said, I will also type up my findings on here when the battery has had time to "bed in"

I've got a cheapy 3500mAh one - that adds a bit of a bulge to the back of the phone , but its really not all that bad - fits the hand nicely and means I can use the phone heavily for an entire day without worrying about needing to charge it.

as for phone size i will be getting a Sweet Armor Bumper so i doubt i would notice the extra size of the cover as the bumper adds a fair bit of size to it.

Remember to consider the bumper still fitting.
I'm very happy with the battery, my day-to-day home/travel/work/travel/home life no longer ends with a battery warning like it used to.

yeh the bumpers designed to allow removal of the cover while fitted (its screwed together) and does take the bigger cover
