I'm on Orange. KIES is telling me there is a firmware upgrade, looks like it could well be ICS.
That said, it has failed to fully download properly twice so far and i might not have time to complete to process now before going to work...

vodafone didn't release yesterday, they are going to try today for Kies and the 17th for OTA.

Good to know as a Sim free owner I've to wait for no good apparent reason till all the networks release the update. I wouldn't be lying if I said it has put my off getting another Samsung phone if I'm honest. I have found their customer service over this period abysmal.

Well that was disappointing! Those cheeky so-and-sos at Orange decided that during the time the other carriers are putting out Android 4.0, they would release a very slightly modified version of Android 2.3.6.
A bug fix, most likely, i havent even checked.
This is pitiful.

Android 4.0.3 downloaded onto my SIM free SGSII today via Kies - no obvious Orange bloatware came with it just one extra game.
Did full backup before but it did keep everything intact, contacts, messages, call history, and all installed apps.
Just got to put the interface back to how it should look

I got my ICS update yesterday (am on Orange), and it's certainly a worthwhile update - more polished, more fluid, although still very obviously android (i know it might be an obvious thing to say, but the way some people have been describing it you'd think it was the second coming or something).
I dont know if the phone 'contacts' is an Android thing or a Samsung thing, but it has instantly annoyed me that you cannot edit a contact name - only the details therein. It decided that my wife went back to her maiden name, and my only option was to delete everything about her and then re-add one by one (and i still cant work out how to add the facebook details that were there before).

don't you use google to deal with the contacts ?
i found that the easy way to do it as it will sync everything you do from the PC.

It looks like Samsung finally released ICS for the Galaxy S2 via Kies. Kies prompted me that new firmware was available this morning. The details are PDA:LPB / Phone: LPB / CSC:LPC (TMU). (My phone is on T-Mobile).
I'm running the upgrade now. I'll update this post with the results when it's done...
... well, that was fun . The upgrade failed twice in a row to begin with as I was running Kies as a standard user (work Windows 7 x86 machine). Even though Kies brought up UAC prompts during the firmware upgrade (which I entered Admin credentials for, obviously), the upgrade failed. I had to actually run the Kies application with Administrator rights, then the upgrade worked first time. Running the latest version of Kies, 2.3.0.12035_16_4.
I now have a GS2 with ICS

I have a Galaxy S2 branded (Portugal) but until now nothing.... (only vodafone I think)
guess i'm one of the lucky few who hasn't had a problem with updating through kies. any idea on how to edit pictures set for contacts? pre ICS the photos were ok quality but since going with ICS the image is really pixelated and the annoying thing is the original picture is high quality.
