Where the hell's my update :P

XDA forums? Been running ICS on mine for a week now. I couldn't be bothered to wait for o2 to get off their behind and get something up.
Plus it's an easy root :D
Its just that I have an unlocked phone and the official release is today :P
Still waiting. sim free phone. 19th was obviously a lie. yet somehow three managed to get it.
MIUI I9100 ICS was last Friday, for a first release it isnt half bad - few weeks of bug fixes and i'll start telling everyone to use it.
I just don't get why they haven't released it for sim free phones if other networks are already releasing it.
I mean why say the 19th then don't? Just a bit frustrating.
Am on orange, and nothing. This doesnt happen with Apple.
Poor show Samsung.
i thought it was the individual carries rather than samsung that is holding up the release. apparently 3 had it released on the 19th, vodafone posted on the 13th i think saying it was going through final testing before being released
All T-Mobile do is direct you to the manufacturer's website for smartphone software updates these days, so I don't see how they're at fault. This is squarely on Samsung!
My point is that the Android releases go from Google -> Samsung -> Carrier, each of which introduce their own delays for testing and adding crapware etc.
Android 4.0 was release on 19th October 2012.
Samsung released their own validated version on 19th March 2012. 4 Months later :(
Unless you want to take matters in to your own hands (which is fair enough but you shouldnt have to) we now have to play the waiting game for some indefinite period of time.
Apple make and then disseminate iOS, and there is one clear single date on which the end user can install (or not as the case may be). Clear, transparent and fair.
This.. had it confirmed by my supplier (phones4u) that the update will be coming from the network, even though it was a sim free device it will get the same update as the contract provided handsets.
He did say they were under the impression the networks won't be loading it down will bloatware... just checking it... Anyone confirm if there was loads of cr*p on the network supplied handsets ?
Obviously Three have theirs out already, the only other to confirm release is Orange as early April.
O2 have upped their update now too.
Seems like Samsung is allowing all the networks to update to ICS before they allow sim-free users too. Joke. In fact the way Samsung have acted the whole way through this process has been a mess and their CS has been terrible. It has really put me off buying another phone from them.
I decided to switch to Samsung from HTC for no other reason than I liked the look of the galaxy 2 and had never owned a Samsung phone before. However after this I think I may go back to HTC. THe One X looks like a great phone.
Still waiting for it from HTC Sensation, bought the phone sim free so wont have to wait for the carrier to send it out, just need HTC to get there arses in gear, from what I hear only a handful of country's have had it sent out so far :(
So it seems the ICS update for the sim-free handsets is still in testing - WTF !! And it will be April 24th before we see it !
Similar here, I had a Samsung phone a few years back, but all my smartphones have been HTC running Windows Mobile and then Android on the last one (Desire). Must admit i'm not overly impressed with the Samsung implementation of Android, i'm hoping ICS will at least make it more stable, the mail and Internet apps are dire in comparison to the HTC.
Bit bizarre how Samsung has managed to get into an odd situation where carriers release fist, but I'm going to flash the O2 update later when the phone's charged and see how it goes.
Not read many negatives at xda yet.
