why is it so hard to get a mobile contract ?

after missing out on a talkmobile deal(dragged my heels as i wasnt sure about the CS) i looked at phones4u today and say a vodaphone deal i liked, as the website says buy online or go in store i rang ahead to make sure they had the S2 in stock and took a detour on our way out..

i was seen by a rather smelly p4u salesman and told him of the deal i saw online and he went to ask his manager, 2 mins later comes back with a load of other deals saying it was online only and he has these for me including orange deals that i had told him i do not want.

after saying fair enough there isnt any point he let me walk out without saying a word.

do these inept morons not want business ?

You said you were not interested and you left I don't see the problem.

Had he stopped you at the door and started trying to convince you to take a contract deal you did not want then you would probably be posting about how pushy phone salesmen are.

I have more respect for a salesman that understands I am not interested in what he's offering and leaves me alone than I do for one that would sit there and try and convince me to take something I don't really want.

And for the Record my daughter works in the local Vodafone shop, now I don't know about any other shops but they are instructed to advise customers not to try and sell them something. They also don't get commission so it's not worth it to them to try and talk you into anything as they have no gain.

    yes that would be irritating

I don't know how the mobile system works there now as it's been a while since I left the UK

But in our house we get all of our mobiles online simply because they can offer way better deals than the shops can plus they give out free gifts.

We have a 32" LCD TV in the bedroom, at 32" LED TV and an Xbox 360 that were all free gifts with our mobile contracts.

i should have known better, but i did want to walk out with a phone rather then go through the crap of missing a delivery and having to go fetch it the day after.

    oh well.

What are you after phone wise, allowance etc?

Might be better going sim-only and buying the handset if you aren't worried about having the latest handset?

Re: why is it so hard to get a mobile contract ?

You could simply get a new contract on the Carphonewarehouse site. http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/mob..._2/MONTHLY/NEW Starts at £26 per month. Not bad.

I bought my Sensation from Amazon, Sim from GIff Gaff as all I seemed to be able to get was 18-24 contracts that it actually worked out cheaper buying it out right. If I want change my phone I will ebay it and get a new one. simples.

Re: why is it so hard to get a mobile contract ?

walked into vodafone who do the same details in store.
zero fuss, zero hard sell and she even skipped all the pages of "do you wants" without asking.
