Samsung Galaxy Note or HTC One X

I am torn between these two devices.

On the one hand you have the Note, which has a stunning 5.3" screen. Yes, I do want & like.

On the other hand the One X has quad core Tegra 3 and ICS (though the Note will get ICS soon), but only a 4.7" screen.

Will the quad core make my phone better. Angry Birds will run fine on either, but I might want to play Shadowgun or something.

    Tegra 3 or 5.3" display?!?!

Re: Samsung Galaxy Note or HTC One X

The Verge's X review suggests its the best smartphone screen they've ever used.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

Re: Samsung Galaxy Note or HTC One X

Just ordered a HTC OneX - optimistically, it will be with me tomorrow, realistically, Tuesday.

I decided 4.7" Screen was big enough, never really found the original Desire lacking in that department, and the quadcore processor should mean it keeps up for the next 18 months at least (the length of my phone contract).

Thanks Terb. I've never heard of The Verge. Great review. I reckon I'm sold on the One X. 4.7 isn't that much smaller than the Galaxy Note's 5.3"

Re: Samsung Galaxy Note or HTC One X

It's funny, I didn't think the Note was as large as 5.3" when I picked it one up in a mobile store the other week, would have guessed 5.0". And even then it felt better in the hand than the Moto Droid Razr. The Razr is too angular, making it uncomfortable in the hand, perhaps it has a larger border round the screen too making the phone larger than it needs to be. The Galaxy S2 felt pretty good in the hand as well.

I think I need to go phone hunting when I get home.

The Verge are all the good Engadget reviewer under a new name after a falling out with AOL about the running of Engadget. Typical story really. AOL wanted to maximize profits in the short term instead of investing in the sites future.

Yeah, perhaps I didn't explain my thinking very well in that post.

I handled a bunch of large screen handsets, the Samsungs felt good and not too large, the Moto didn't even though the screen is smaller than the Note and the same size as the S2. My wife's Desire HD feels a bit fat and cumbersome compared to the Note and S2, even though it has a smaller screen (previous generation of device really though).

So despite saying in the past that I didn't want a super large screen handset, I guess it's all down to the complete package and how that feels in the hand. The One X is starting to sound very attractive, and the photos in that Verge review make it look stunning, especially the side profile.

I do like the idea of the smart pen on the Note, but I can imagine me never actually using it, even though I would fully intend to.

Re: Samsung Galaxy Note or HTC One X

I've done it. I've made the plunge and gone for the Galaxy Note . That beautiful 5.3" screen just did it for me (even though my missus thinks the Note is stupid - aka. too big).

Not concerned about the quad core on the One X. That's mainly for games, while the day to day running is on the 5th smaller core running at 500MHz.

The Note has a lovely 1.4GHz dual core, which every app gets to play with. And won't dissovle the battery in a hurry
