Re: The HTC One X discussion thread

Thanks Biscuit, that helps a lot - the app storage is probably the only thing that annoys me (the icon telling me storage is low and the constant cache clearing).

My battery will do 24/36 hours without a charge thanks to JuiceDefender so hopefully it'll do the same on whatever phone I pick to replace this one. I've got a 16Gb mSDHC which is only half full so like you, the lack of removable storage isn't an issue at all.

Now all that's left to do is go and play with the instore demos

Re: The HTC One X discussion thread

As long as the longevity of the actual battery itself is ok, im dont see the big issue. You can get external batteries that will keep the phone going if you really need too. I had one recomended the other day but i dont remember now. Il have to check it out.

I actually found juice defender did more harm than good and i got better battery life without it!

Re: The HTC One X discussion thread

I had a play with one in 02 and was very impressed, didn't see all the fuss behind sense 4.0, mind I'm a big fan of stock ICS which I'm used to on my DesireHD, so I look forward to the XDA community bringing that about. The camera as mentioned in reviews is amazingly quick approaching the shooting speed of a high end compact or DSLR. Videos equally are very impressive and I don't think I'd miss my basic low end compact if I forgot to take it to motorsport events for example. Screen is amazing with very vivid colours and no ghosting at all, ideal for a big use of my phone watching videos on Youtube and Vevo

Don't quite buy the its huge comments that some reviews seem to mention, I don't have any issues with my desire HD and the One X is only a tiny bit longer, think it would be useful to mention the size comparison in reviews tbh always a frustrating lack of that I find! So I'd get one personally if the Galaxy S III wasn't round the corner, I have to wait till end of the year anyway!

Also had a play with the Galaxy Note and that certainly is huge as reviews claim, quite a novel ideal with the stylus, though like the Dell Streak I can't see it selling in big volume purely because its a bit confused whether its a tablet or a phone and I'd certainly feel a bit odd using it as a phone.

Re: The HTC One X discussion thread

So you're saying that the battery life can be improved my moving one simple file? Sill HTC
    OR
wait for an update that would do that itself presumably...

HMM... I will wait till Apple release a new phone, if it isn't as good as the One X I'm going to buy one

Biscuit, did you get a white one or black one?

    thanks

When you say you don't seem to be able to tether, how are you doing it? USB or via the WiFi app?

Re: The HTC One X discussion thread

After seeing the 'Android Revolution HD' custom ROM and what they're doing with it, I'm REALLY tempted to go get one when I get payed... i'll go find an in-store demo and play with it for a while

Thanks for this Biscuit and anyone else who has donated to this thread with good info and opinions
This is why I love Hexus!

Re: The HTC One X discussion thread

Reading the bugs and issues thread over at XDA is terrifying. I know all phones generally have the same thing but still... jeez. Fortunately alot of them im not experienceing.
    Yellow tint on screen? Nope
    Creaking of the case? Nope
    blah blah blah

I tried playing some of the optomized tegra games last night and they run like crap Really hope HTC dont drag their feet with this update to fix the power management stuff as that seems to be whats to blame.

Have you got a link to the thread Biscuit? Would be interesting to read what they are pointing out.

The only bug I've noticed so far is if you drag the menu down from the top, and then go to drop it back, but hold it at the top, the date and text get corrupted.

Re: The HTC One X discussion thread

    Here it is

    Bugs
Screen stops turning orientation, even in settings menu G-sensor no longer moves. - POSSIBLE FIX : Go to taskmanager and kill all tasks - All credit and thanks go to casca
Calendar widget crashes if more then 20 appointments - TIP : Just remove the widget since it will keep crashing until you remove it...
Other HTC widgets seem to be causing lag too.
    GPU Rendering can't be forced.
Live wallpaper stops on switching between screens
GPS issues - Possible fix : Download gps status on the market and clear the a-gps data - if this works all credit and thanks go to matmar
    Screen starts "jumping"
When browsing/camera/other Sense 4.0 related tasks -> It looks like there is "noise" on the screen. Like this
    SIM card stops working/restarts/no connection
The three dot menu button appears in some ICS native apps, like the YouTube app for example. - Fix for this in Dev section (requires unlock)
Tegra 3 games (and some others) lag, this is probably connect to some video driver bug. (Hardware is fast enouf to play it without lag)
Screen reactivating after using the lock-button (only 1 click ofc)
When opening the Clock app (just by pressing the clock on your homescreen), and moving to the Timer-tab (the one on the far right) it always adds one hour, one minute and one second to whatever time you set it to.

    Issues
Lag in Multi-Tasking window and other elements - TIP : Go to Dev Settings - disable animations. This improved the speed a lot for me (even thou most animations keep on running, only the excessive ones get turned off) [This lag is clearly a software issue, other launchers are lag-free; should be fixed soon]
A lot of people are reporting signal problems. (No clue what's causing it)
    Yellow spots on the screen

Always try to Factory Reset your device if you have a problem. Most of the time this fixes it. (Last resort)

Post your bugs and issues and if they get posted frequently I'll add them to the list.

Note to people who are planning on buying an HTC One X :
The device is still a great piece of technology, every software has bugs in it at the start! Don't get dissapointed because there are some minor glitches in the software, most of them will be fixed within 7 days from now (Update).
I warn people considering to buy this phone, take the list with a pinch of salt. Not everyone is having these issues and i suspect a lot of it is just fluff.

Not seen any of the issues they've mentioned.....maybe I'm just not paying that much attention. Mind you, mine has a Vodafone ROM on it, not the vanilla HTC one.
