Re: The HTC One X discussion thread
Anyone else notice the backlight level changes/fluctuates, even though the ambient lighting is relatively consistent (i.e. a lit room, for example)?
I only mention it as after a relatively average day's use I found the screen was responsible for 70% of the battery use. Whilst I knew the screen (due to size/resolution/quality) would affect battery life, I wasn't expecting it to be quite so pronounced.
Re: The HTC One X discussion thread
i have noticed it on occation, but it didnt bother me at all
Re: The HTC One X discussion thread
I've received my third unit, thankfully no dead pixels, but there's back light bleed at the base of the screen (it is not coming from the capacitive buttons). The bleed isn't a consistent line, it's roughly twelve little bumps of bleed... anyone else? Set background to white, tilt top of phone towards you and then look downwards to identify issue.
Friends have said 'if you didn't point it out I'd have never had noticed it' but I'm a little bit, um, anal so it's really bugging me. Still undecided if I'm going to go for a fourth unit .
Re: The HTC One X discussion thread
I was really looking forward to getting a HTC One X after the disappointment of the Galaxy S3... After seeing this thread I am really starting to think twice
Re: The HTC One X discussion thread
Now I've got my replacement, I'm very happy. The software has some improvements to be made, but that is just because it is a new handset I guess.
I'd go to a store and have a play - see if you like it. Immaterial if we are happy with it or not :)
Re: The HTC One X discussion thread
The S3 seems to be the better handset still?
Re: The HTC One X discussion thread
I like the handset. The screen is responsive and the keyboard gives better feedback than the s2.

Hardware wise I would say yes. For me the Samsung software is an unknown quantity. I know the Galaxy Ace is a low end handset, but I have one from work and really don't like it. The mail, contacts and messaging clients aren't nearly as nice as any of the Sense versions I've used.
I'm happy leaving my HTC with a stock build, I would be far more tempted to get a custom ROM for a Samsung though.
Re: The HTC One X discussion thread
Software is pretty much why i knew i would prefer the HTC. I have always been quite a big fan of sense, even when it was bloated and quite different to stock android.
The Samsung has the edge on quite a few places which does make a part of me wish i had waited to at least consider it. The main ones are:
Removable Battery
Considerably bigger battery
micro SD slot
This clever thing they have going on with eye detection sounds genius
But the HOX looks way nicer, is thinner and lighter, the screen seems better and the implementation of sense is excellent. I suspect if i got my hands on a SGIII i would probably, once again, be dissapointed with build quality.
Re: The HTC One X discussion thread
I've decided against sending mine back as the 'yellow band' has faded now and my handset is perfect to use on a daily basis now.
I've alerted the suppliers to this and told them if it appears again I'll be winging it back straight away so they are happy for me to keep the handset for the time being.
Re: The HTC One X discussion thread
I got the 2nd OTA update for the HTC one X as well last night.
From what I can see by the way it feels, it does seem to be quicker and more responsive.
Re: The HTC One X discussion thread
I should be getting a replacement handset today.
Last week mine decided to completely die on me. Dismissed an alarm that I'd set and the whole thing froze then went black. Nothing at all would revive it or make any difference, even connecting a charger wouldn't get the charging indicator on.
T-Mobile weren't exactly helpful to start with, said I needed to go into a store to get it replaced. Not easy for me to do, I'm at least 50 miles from one. I called back a while later and the woman got a replacement organised. She said it would be done on Monday, but when I called they said it was still processing and would be replaced yesterday. Yesterday I got a text to say it would be with me today. Still waiting, but deliveries are usually mid to late afternoon up here.
I really miss the One X now I've had to go back to my old Desire.
Will definitely need to use Dropbox when I get my new One X, lost some photos and videos when my last one died :(
Re: The HTC One X discussion thread
Funk - did you register your extra 25gb of storage with Dropbox on your first One X?
If so, when you get a new handset, register it with a different account - voila - two 25gb Dropbox accounts.
