The New Budget smartphone of 2012

    The Huawei G300
    Specs:
    http://www.gsmarena.com/huawei_ascend_g300-4594.php

    Available from Vodafone for £110

    http://shop.vodafone.co.uk/shop/mobi...-psmb-mod4-bt2

Its already been rooted, and there is a lot of interest at modacco, so I think we will have an amazing development community for this phone.

Looks promising, only thing putting me off is that you cant unlock it for free yet and I love my amoled screen on my orange san fransisco.

    Thoughts?

My thought is if you call that a budget phone, we have a different definition of budget.

Last time I bought a phone I paid £10. And I bought two. Including £2 of inclusive calls. That was a budget phone.

Oh, and about 5 years later, they're both still working perfectly.

Broadly speaking you have to actually use an item to wear it out

I knew I was doing something wrong. But anyway, I do use it. I made a call last week.

It should be "budget smartphone" , my old nokias and LG flip phones are still going strong... if you want reliable phones to actually do proper phone related things then yup you cant beat them at all!.

However for budget portable computing, this is looking like a sweet device and have been following it for a bit now so hopefully it will pick up . I believe vodafone have the rights for 3 months then it will be open to all to sell so we could see it being even cheaper!

Santa Clara? Intel based android for Orange.

No price yet, but it's not expected to be expensive could be worth looking out for potentially.
