Contract ends in about a month, what do I do?

I'm currently on Orange Dolphin 20 with and HTC Desire. I'd like to stay with them because I should have pulling power and I get magic numbers which works out very well (I barely use any paid for minutes). I use around 300mb a month, so not fussed about getting a gig of internet.

I'm currently after either a Galaxy S3 or a Note which I'm sure I can wheedle my way onto if I ask nicely enough. Sod a £41/mo contract though...

    £41 x 24 = £984
    or.. £350 SIM free (yay) + £10 x 24 = £600

The Note going for £350 on Amazon.de (mein handy!) and I reckon I can get my contract halved because all I want is internet and texts, see above regarding minutes. Also thinking that getting a dirt cheap contract is probably good because if I buy SIM free I can ditch it in October when all the fancy pants Windows 8 phones get released. The S3 is looking seriously tempting though!

Thoughts? What are my odds of pushing for a tenner a month plus a decent phone?

Ask to get moved onto a rolling contract. You can expect a price drop to £10 easy. Then reassess in October.

talk to the guys in the high street shops. you can use your existing contract as an advantage and get a huge discount. from my experience, it is better to talk to the guys in the high street shop that to phone customer service as they have a strict set of rules to comply. I think pay as you go phone + a sim only contract works out the best.

Have you heard of giffgaff? They do some awesome pay and go deals. £10 a month gets you 250mins, unltd texts and internet. Not bad for a pay and go deal.
