Re: Google Nexus 7 Discussion Thread
I ordered the 8Gb on 9th July but changed my mind the very same day and put in a change of order notice for the 16Gb. I got no reply so put in a cancellation request with a view to reordering the 16Gb. Still no reply but I assumed (ha!) it'd be cancelled because I asked them to cancel.
I got a tracking number Tuesday and rang Google Play yesterday where I spent SEVENTY minutes on hold to be told by a pleasant but slow American lady called Nataaaaasha that if I wanted to exchange it for the 16Gb I'd have to "take it my shipping company and refuse delivery and they'll ref......<click>"
I'll probably keep the 8Gb and hope USB-OTG either comes via an update or is available via rooting.
Re: Google Nexus 7 Discussion Thread
sounds typical off this pre-order fiasco. USB-otg can be done by rooting the device, i've seen it on XDA somewhere.
I'm pretty pissed that I ordered on the 1st and i'm not going to have it till next week. Currys and tesco have them in stock, for cheaper too. If only I could afford to order one and refuse my GP order.
Re: Google Nexus 7 Discussion Thread
I ordered mine on the 29th of June. I don't expect to see it until next week. Not really impressed but thankfully I don't need it until the 1st of august so i'm lucky, I guess..

Apparently there is a code you can use with tesco to get £10 off. It was on HDUK today but im not sure if its still valid, either way im sticking with the plans i currently have. Some Currys/PC World now allow reserve and collect.... booking one for the reading store now and hopefully i will make it there after work.

I'd read a post/article about it but couldn't remember if it was rooted or planned feature.
If I can enable USB-OTG chances are I can mount external devices using StickMount and the ~5Gb storage limit wont matter any more.
Looks like I may keep it so time to find a magnetic case ;)

You would think with the popularity would have come a massive swarm of awesome cases.... but no, not yet :(
Re: Google Nexus 7 Discussion Thread
Holy carp !!! Its only gorn and shipped!!!!
Re: Google Nexus 7 Discussion Thread
Well the saga of failings continues for me, the order and collect system for currys/pc world didnt work so i got there thinking... YES FINALLY and they have allocated more than they had in stock.
I called up the customer service line to check the order i put in last night and the guy said they have a delivery arriving tomorrow and mine would definately be in that order as there was more arriving than was on the backlog. That should mean it arrives at my parents by next week and i can collect it at the weekend.
Word of warning to anyone else thinking of using the currys/pc world service, call customer services so they can put you in touch with the store before you go down there as it seems a lot of stores are messing up quantities for collection!
Re: Google Nexus 7 Discussion Thread
Mine has just arrived from Currys. Looks ace, not got a real chance to play with it until later. Initial impressions are that is tiny and they've put a lot of thought into the packaging. It's very apple-like, though a touch hard to open the box.

Looking forward to having a real go later.

Finally a reply to my request to cancel my order, three days after I receiving the order

Hi,
It appears your device has been delivered already.
If the package is successfully delivered, you can still refuse delivery of
unopened packages within 5 days of delivery. To do so, contact our
shipping provider directly to schedule a pick up of your package. Make
sure to let them know that the pickup is specifically because you're
refusing delivery.
IMPORTANT: Don't open the package. Our shipping provider will not allow
refusal of delivery for opened packages.

The Google Play Team
"Contact our shipping provider" - WHO!?!
I can't be bothered with the hoopjumping, so I'm keeping it and will be cracking it open tonight, hopefully the cases will appear soon.
Re: Google Nexus 7 Discussion Thread
ups are the shipping company i believe
Re: Google Nexus 7 Discussion Thread
I thought the same, but mine came via TNT - emailing TNT got me a "yes we ship for Google" reply and I was told I'd need to get a returns label from Google.
Re: Google Nexus 7 Discussion Thread
Mine turned up from Currys this morning, woohoo. Now no time to play with it due to other commitments :( . Still at least it looks nice.

This is Googles responsibility to manage their own suppliers, what a disgraceful response.

Re: Google Nexus 7 Discussion Thread
Mines here looks brill - very light too. The agony of not being able to play with it till the 1st of august (wife's birthday) will kill me..
I've bought a case for it:

Cheap but until I see something better I think it will do the job. Has the magnets to wake it too.
