I think you were correct, 50euros just to ship it to Holland before any time and materials....so it's a none starter
Now just got think what to do with a broken device that's still got some personal data on (not mine thankfully)

See if you can source the parts and fix it yourself?

Possible, but as it's someone else's (at work) I'm not sure I can be bothered :-)
I was thinking of finding a trusted geek who wanted to tinker :-)

    Just picked up the DODOcase

Looks like some of the nice cases are flowing through. Will review when I have it.

Not sure of the photo frame widget as i dont use one, would be good to know if there is one though!

For an alternative to the default nexus one im using Nova Launcher and its pretty good. Another popular one is ADW launcher.

Would you say the launcher is simpler?

Basically thats what I'm after, I am going to paint the power button red or something with touch up paint....

Well any of the launchers I have used just seem to make things a bit more fancy and added a few new abilities like being able to change icons or animation types. I haven't come across anything that seems to automatically make things easier. What I would say is that you should be able to set up a very clear single screen home Page with minimal links on, so whilst the simplicity wouldn't be immediately there, you could build something that did what you needed?

Tbh I probably code nock some code up to be a "granny" shell. But part of me thinks I should hope there is a Windows 8 tablet that is as cheap.... Not going to happen!

Re: Google Nexus 7 Discussion Thread

As i mentioned in another thread, i got one of these in the post from Google the other day. Absolutely delighted with it!

Havent felt the urge to tinker with the launchers and the look of it yet as I do quite like its look already. I bought that carbon case that Biscuits housemate has and someone else has in this thread. It's a great little case does exactly what I need it too and for the money its build quality is excellent.

For £200 this can't be beaten, I've used it even more than I thought I would.

I use google currents a lot on the commute, had it on my galaxy nexus before but on the bigger screen its much better. Other apps of note for me are:

    Zinio - https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...d.reader&hl=en
a great little magazine app with good prices for subscriptions to magazines and plenty of offers and money back schemes. Have a few subsciptions going at the moment.

    LastPass - https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...cGFuZHJvaWQiXQ..

I just can't go without LastPass now.

    Flipboard - https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...b2FyZC5hcHAiXQ..

again a great little magazine style app but its a news aggregator and lets you select what news you are interested in. It also comes with Pocket (readitlater) integration.

    so yeah Pocket - https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...xhdGVyLnBybyJd

I'm using this while I wait for them to update the instapaper app to something resembling the functionality on the iPhone.

    Evernote - https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...5ldmVybm90ZSJd

You all must know about that already

    DroidEdit - https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...RlZGl0LnBybyJd

a great little code editor for use on the nexus 7, once I've picked up a mobile keyboard this will be used more but it's great for looking through my code for bugs on the train and implementing small changes at the moment.

I'm interested to hear about any more that people use and feel are essential.

I'm chuffed with mine, does everything I wanted it to plus so much more. Better than my brother's iPad 2 by a country mile (Hate how big/heavy the iPad is in comparison. And I used to think the iPad was light!)

Re: Google Nexus 7 Discussion Thread

Another happy Nexus 7 user here, its replaced a 10 inch Android tablet, that I haven't bothered to charge since getting the Nexus 7. I use it as an ebook reader at work, and to do general internet and email stuff. Due to its size it also tends to accompany me out and about, lives in the rather large pockets in my shorts or cargo trousers. I use it with my Galaxy S2 setup as a wifi hotspot.

To be honest I haven't looked into them properly yet haven't travelled too far from work recently so haven't had the need but when I get going around the country again I'll start looking into them. Any suggestions?

Looking forward to seeing the app lists as it can hopefully introduce me to something I'd not even thought to do with my tablet.
