+1 for Nexus 4. I've had it for 8 months and its an absolute steal. I feel that even as of now, it provides the best Android experience. It's just so smooth and stock Android is just awesome.

Although the Nexus 5 is just round the corner...

Re: Budget Android 4.0 dual-core smartphones

I think i may have a different kind of budget in mind

Fwiw, Huawei y300 starts at £70 from carphone warehouse. I've had mine since release, about 2 months ago, and I still have to pinch myself. Cracking bit of 'disposable' kit at pocket money prices. Runs games like Dead Space (but not Gta3... I care about neither, but they're useful benchmarks) and so far has proved totally reliable, fairly frugal with battery life (with wifi off) and a pleasure to own.

However my previous Android was a Samsung Apollo, so my standards may be relatively low. I only dumped that because of a flakey headphone socket.

How about the Xperia SP, lot of spec for the money!
I got one and prefer it to the one x it replaced.
Better size, better build, better battery, looks nicer, notification bar is cool... Loads of little things. It's also LTE ready!
I miss the one x screen and some of the sense things but I have found alternatives now.
Can pick it up for the stated budget aswell
