There are millions and millions of iPad's out there and there hasn't been a drastic recall or huge return rate. That says far more than any review.
Why do they have to be too hot to burn skin? All they have to be is uncomfortable for it to be a problem. I didnt say it was a problem to the length of they would need to recall them, just so far that someone might find it uncomfortable and therefore something else might be better suited for them.

In short if consumer reports have never gone for the cheap page view fodder. No one would have ever mentioned it.
Wired didnt state the brightness setting they used, which is an important factor in this.

Re: Overheating on New iPad...is it serious?

Well, as regards trying the iPad in store again i did say "There will be no significant noticeable way of determining the degree of heatness in a store (Curry's/PCWorld or an Apple Store) as either the iPad 3 will be non-working (aside fro Apple store), there will be a long queue for the thing or the apps or games installed will not be a determinant enough. The people there might not allow you to install apps anyway. And besides there might be no wifi in-store. You don't want to stay in a store for an hour would you? and besides you might start feeling the heat when people start staring at you or maybe the airconditioning isn't working". Its a joke. How would you be able to try on these devices if there is no wifi or the thing is not working, etc.

These people who said that 116 degrees “shouldn’t be of any concern” for the average adult, and the temperature “isn’t going to burn anyone on contact.” But again this is not just the concern. There are are many overlapping & encompassing concerns like battery discharging quickly, slow battery charging and the supposed "overheating" affecting internal components of the thing. In my opinion 4-8c of increased heat (compared to the previous-gen ipad) is VERY significant. Its very concerning. But, with the rumour mill of the iPad Mini in hyperspeed as regards its specs i am now tempted to hold on to my precious cash by October.
