Yeah, someone's corrected me in the main news thread about it too. Just got a bee in my bonnet about LGs software record - sick of waiting for updates. Don't need a new smartphone at the minute anyway, but frankly anything LG related leaves a bit of a sour taste in my mouth.
tbh, with the kind of specification these phones are getting I think more companies need to do an Atrix and make some kind of laptop dock. I occasionally run ICS in a vm on my laptop and tbh I think it works pretty well with a keyboard&mouse, so a dockable ICS phone that turns into a netbook makes a lot of sense to me. That way you'd always have all your connected stuff - google drive etc. - handy, but if you wanted to do actual productivity you could just slap it into the dock and off you go.
Or is that just me...?![]()
Not that wacky really, when you consider quite a few high end devices have MHL, the dock could easily have HDMI out and connect to a larger screen.
*Phew* Hasn't rendered my shiny S3 obsolete ^^;
Expendable storage and removable battery are two of three key reasons (last one being Google maps app) I jumped ship from the iPhone. Bigger screen and the Android OS is a non-factor to me. Price is not a non-factor, but it needs to be weighted against existing investment on the iOS and the cost of time required to transfer the stuff and getting accustomed to the new system. So frankly, between had it been between the iPhone and the Nexus, I might have stuck with the iPhone.
But the fact that I can throw a 64GB SD card into a 32GB phone to larger than even the largest iPhone 5? Sweet. 8GB is definitely not enough. My 8GB 2G iPhone was stuffed to the brim, and it didn't even have any music in it. Or many apps for that matter. But it had a lot of pictures and I also use the voice recorder a lot. Now I can stuff my device with music.
Removable batteries is an even bigger deal. I found out today that extended battery pretty much guarantees that I will not run out of power in a single day even with heavy use (stress test excluded). My iPod Touch batteries definitely feel like it runs out low quickly in comparison. And if I do run out of power, swapping batteries is more convenient than plugging in a portable charger (still an option anyway).
Whether it is an Android, Windows Mobile or iOS, I'll need something really, really good to compensate for the lack of removable batteries (and to a lesser extent, expendable storage) on my next phone. The Nexus provides exceptional value, especially if one isn't moving platform, but unless circumstances forces me to seek how to spend less on electronics, it won't be my next phone. I might suggest it if someone on a budget ask for my suggestion though![]()

I've been checking from the second I got the mail and I've not seen the chance to order (apart from the bugged button). Hopefully not sold out!
It will be, 16gbs have been selling out within an hour in most countries I believe.
Tried to buy an 8Gb this morning at 8:30, the servers were hammered and I couldn't keep mashing F5 as I had to go to work.....
It looks like they are sold out all over the world, hopefully they will be back in stock before Christmas :<
