Need advice on getting insurance for my mobile phone...

I searched it on here and found one thread from earlier in the year which was basically just a short discussion on whether you should bother with phone insurance, and a few saying they are covered with their bank account. So I thought I'd try asking...

I bought an S3 not so long ago. I've never spent anywhere near this amount of cash on a phone before so am starting to think I should get insurance. I don't want to go with my bank and I don't have any house insurance, so we can rule those out.

I'm just looking for something that's only gonna cost about 5 quid a month and will cover my phone for all accidental damage, wear and tear, theft and loss. Just so I know that whatever happens, it's covered and I'll get it repaired or a new replacement, no fuss.

It's quite easy to search around for these things. But what I'm asking is for anyone that has experience and knows of some companies that will actually give you the service you paid for when you need it. If anyone can help me out here I'd appreciate it a lot. Thanks all.

If you don't mind me asking, which network provider are you with? Did you purchase it via them or was it unlocked?

I bought the phone unlocked from an online retailer and I'm using a giffgaff p&g sim. Sick of contract deals after only having had one serious one haha. I hope to never do that again...

The only people i know of are "protect your bubble" and thats only because they advertise on TV, and they say "£5.99/month" for a Samsung Galaxy S 3.

But that doesnt cover wear and tear, I think youd be hard pushed to find a policy that covers that, nor does it seem to include loss, which they want an extra £1/month for.

However, if you are a home owner, your phone may be covered under your house contents insurance.

A quick search for protect your bubble feedback will tell you all you need to know about those crooks. I'd say if you want to insure your phone go through the network or your bank mate. Banks offer pretty good phone insurance for those with current accounts that you pay a monthly fee for.

Actually they didn't look to bad when I saw their reviews on trustpilot and I had a quick check at what it covers on their site. I was happy with what they covered. But my main goal here is to figure out which ones people here actually think are good from personal experience, which.....

...leads me to my next question. Did they screw you over? I am on pay as you go so I'm fairly sure I can't get insurance. I'll check giffgaff's site though! Also the bank is not an option for me as I said in the original post... Cheers.

Thanks for the link. I read that guide a matter of days ago but seeing as they apparently updated it today I think I should take a look again
