Chinese tablet market - Best sources for info.

My wife would like a tablet she says. Its her B'day in april so I have time to look around

I don't know very much about tablets. Being me i have looked around it seems that faster tablets with better screens (IPS slightly better res), HDMI, SSD are much cheaper coming from Chinese brands. IE a samsung tab 2 vs a ployer momo8 ips. For me its a no brainer. You can get a ploeyer with a years warranty. there are some well dodgy names though. Ainol darling?

Shopping online there is an absoloute huge range of tablets. I was wondering if there is a kind of defacto source of who's who in the tablet market. Amazon reviews are okay and alot of the forums dedicated to reviewing tablets are helpful.

    What phone does she have?

    Does she want a 7", 8" or 10" one?

I would try to buy from Amazon/Amazon Marketplace, so you have their A-Z guarantee.

Personally I have been looking at the Ployer Momo 8 as well, it gives a lot of bang for your money. I currently have the Archos 80 Cobalt (£50 off Tesco) and while the hardware is good the software is buggy beyond belief.

Must haves for a good tablet should be: 4000maH battery (if 7-8", more if it is a 10"), Android 4.1+ (JellyBean), dual core processor, 1GB ram, Skype video capable and a high resolution non-glossy screen.

I don't do mobiles. she has one and it looks okay. Embarrasing I know The tablet would be for movies, browsing and skyping

gtr electronics (?) offer the momo8 for 115 with a one year warranty. Import tax, shipping from HK and return to base etc make it seem a better proposition.

Re: Chinese tablet market - Best sources for info.

My mate got one of these each for his kids at Christmas. I think it was the Ainol, not sure, but it was under £100 for the 7", came with 4.1 and 1Gb of RAM, I think. Screen was not massive resolution, from what I can remember, but they looked OK. Came with sd slot, and an OTG cable, which I thought was pretty cool.

Edit: Just heard from my mate, they were NATPCs. This one, I think...

    My mistake, it's 1024x600...

Assuming the Misses doesn't have an iPhone I would say the Android tablet will be a good purchase, if she does have one you should really buy an iPad for consistency.
