Nokia basically chug out the same phones with slightly upgraded features... I cant tell the difference between most of their their phones nowdays.

Whilst SonyEricsson all their phones are destinctive and all top-rated by almost all reviewers.

I've bought my phones from CPWH for the last 3 years and they've been excellent. The staff in my local store are really good and know their stuff. Had no problems with their aftersales customercare either.

I know this is going off topic, but Nokia dont seem to be trying any more? Is it just me that gets that impression. I mean they bring out all their phones model number +10 or whatever, but they dont seem to be that great. They dont seem to try anything innovative, just stick to some old phones but with more games or something. I dont know maybe I havent been following it as well as I could.
Hehe, Nokia seem to be criticised when they try some innovative (here, here, here, here, here, etc.) and criticised when they just try and make a nice phone with decent features.

I guess most of their crazy phones are a bit too crazy for most people though.

Problem is that they are way out in designs or they are bricks in shape.

It's only just been annouced, so that's why you probably haven't seen it before. It's based on the fugly Nokia "These are not the droids we're looking for" 7700 which was never released.

So whats the verdict on this, should I stay clear of the s700i then?
I totally agree about nokia phones, I can sort of see where they are going... nowhere, just making phones, maybe they have lots of funky functions, but they don't show it. There for the buisnessman or technophobe mothers, they look like bricks and serve a purpose.

Anyway, I got a brandnew boxed nokia6230 which i really dont want to use, rather sell/swap it, and this sony one looked like more my phone. currently using a Samsung P400 and wouldnt mind something slightly more uptodate, and its nice to have a phone with some sort of flip/twist function to play with

EDIT: oh plus I love taking pics so as much as I am reluctant to ditch the rotating lens on my P400 I was hoping the cam and screen on the SE are more than great, the reviews say they are?

whats up with nokia phones? They are the best and most reliable make around tbh. The SE phones are just horrible, mainly due to the OS they run...its slow and unreliable in comparison to symbian and its varieties. I've always used nokia phones (aside from a brief time with a samsung e710 - ooh what a mistake) and always been happy. Simple, intuitive interface, great feature list which are often first to market features, and generally good looking phones. When anything does go wrong, nokia have a great warrenty system that gets you phone repaired pretty quickly (can be just a few days if your lucky)

heh it's your money but you have a great phone there (6230), why downgrade to a lower quality phone??

My phone is still great, my mates is fine (except the awful vodafone branded firmware)

If you like taking pics this phone is great because of the huge screen!
