    SonyEricsson S700i

I have had nothing but bother with Carphonewarehouse and this mobile.

I found that a pixel on the camera was out and that the rotating top section does open to a 180 degrees like stated for the product spec.

It opens to about 178 degrees; yeah I know your saying what’s 2 degrees....

Well a lot now as I notice it very time a tried to use the phone. So I took it back and asked for another handset. The Sales advisers looked at me with disgusted that I had a problem with this but I got a replacement sent out to me. I finally got it to find the second one with the same problem with the rotating top section not opening up straight.

To which the shop guys started pissing about with starting the phone up, I then asked why he was trying to power the phone up when it was a case/chassis problem. He gave me a mocking laugh and said he had to check it. While giving me a very disrespectful look. It went on from there with the manager saying that they won’t refund my money as there 14 day return policy doesn't cover an exchanged phone.
I said that this is fault with the phone as it has a pin inside that clicks into place when at its fullest rotation. So basically it hasn't been machined or build correctly. To which they told me that there was NOTHING wrong with the phone so they won’t do anything about it.

I have now seen 5 of these phones to find that they are all the same, so it looks like a batch is all like this. So Beware

Anyway I even tried the customer services to say that they wouldn't do anything about it either and that they must just ROUND up there figures to 180 degrees!!!!!!

So I have phoned Sonyericsson and they say that it’s a fault if it’s not opening straight.
Citizens Advice has said that I'm within my rights to reject the product as it’s not as specified.

I went to another branch as I told them to send it back to the manufacture for assessment as to where it does open to 180 degrees. The young sales person said that he couldn't deal with my Statuary rights and that he can only deal with me on company policy. His manager was the only person that could do that. I found that amazing.

I paid good money for this phone and it’s the Sonyericssion flagship model only to find the phone is badly built. I just don’t want the phone now and I can’t trust carphonewarehouse to give me correct assessment.

Document all your problems and send them to SonyEricsson, highlighting the fact that CPWH are damaging SE's reputation by deliberately being awkward, and ask if you can deal with them direct?

With carphone warehouse (or any other phone dealer).. never leave the shop without checking the unit over first. GOLDEN rule.

Been 2 m8 they say that the wont return it and the only way I can get independet person to check it is either to send it to SE myself at about £30 cost and not get refunded for the cost if it is classed as faulty. or they send it via the head office which will take weeks and make the phone go outside the 28 returns period.

He says that CarphoneNUTZwarehouse are clamping down on returns and the manager saw nothing wrong with the phone.

I got so mad that I had to leave the store.

They say that its not a functional fault, so it doesn't matter that it opens to 178-179 instead of a true 180 degrees. So I'm left with a borked phone. Im tempted to put it to the lowest tarriff and egay it after I pay the contract off.

if they wont take it back I would threaten legal proceedings. If the phone is clearly at fault [which you say it is] then you have a LEGAL right to an exchange or refund as the goods are faulty. They can't refuse you..it would be against the law.

If they still act like muppets then ring/write to head office and complain like mad. Most big companies usually fall at their knees when you write to head office with a problem like this.

99% of the S700i's don't open fully 180 degrees. The two i've had don't. Like you said, it goes to about 177 or 178.

CPW are a bunch of monkey's. I've had over 50 phones and would never shop in there again.

Well if thats true why aren't SE doing a recall for this product? its FLAGSHIP phone for gods sake.

Its not just Carphone****hedz thats had their image tarnished if its true that they all dont work.

SonyEricsson wont see my business again....

I loved my T28 and I was looking forward to coming back to SE but I will NEVER buy from that company again.

I have had problems with CPW the shops only not if you order from telesale or website. Unless the deals they are offering outway other dealers by a large margin i would not bother to use`um,

I know this is going off topic, but Nokia dont seem to be trying any more? Is it just me that gets that impression. I mean they bring out all their phones model number +10 or whatever, but they dont seem to be that great. They dont seem to try anything innovative, just stick to some old phones but with more games or something. I dont know maybe I havent been following it as well as I could.
