    hexxeh needs a phone

i've arsed up the battery clip on my old t100, so i'm on the lookout for a new phone

    i need:

    * flip phone, slide phone, whatever. i don't want a keypad i can accidentally unlock.

    * camera. a nice camera would be preferred

    * decent bluetooth implementation. that means i want to be able to use OBEX FTP to transfer pictures effortlessly, not have somethign as broken as Nokia's early bluetooth which only worked with Nokia Bluetooth adapters and Nokia Bluetooth drivers, to Nokia Bluetooth software. from what i read, every sony since the t68i, and most siemenses with some extra phone-based software are good to go on ths front. no idea on other brands

    * a decent manufacturer warranty, or a decent shop to buy from. nokia's customer service is appalling, if i got a nokia i'd need a shop that bends over backwards to please me.

    * cost me 200ish quid. the siemens sl65 for example looks nice, but is way over budget.

    ideas please?

The T610/T630 would be fine, I had a T610 for 2yrs and have never accidently unlocked the keypad.

With both those phones you can just turn auto keylock on, and if you do unlock it it will lock again in about 5secs of no use.

edit: Colleague at work has the Z600 and it is the T610 in clamshell.

i've owned enough phones in the past, i simply do not want an exposed keypad. no matter how guaranteed foolproof the keylock is.

Well the Z600 is a neat phone, not exactly small but for £200 you wont get anything clamshell/slide that is small.

The bluetooth is good, and the cameras ok.

I've no idea how much this is going to cost when it comes out. Not a clamshell as such, but the keypad isn't made of buttons:

Looks really interesting, but no idea on pricing yet.

Z600 camera is pretty poor imho. The camera on the Moto V5xx/V600 is much much better altho the build quality/bluetooth can be variable. You should be able to pick up a V500 for about a ton nowadays.

Actually it seems that a Samsung clamshell would be ideal for you, great cameras, good screens etc. Have a look around.

Ah yes, forgot about that. Why do Samsung seem to want to ignore Bluetooth.

Anybody tried a Nokia 7650 am thinking of ditching the ngage to get one? Oldish phone but has key cover and, is it a bit of a brick?

Basically am after a phone with camera, bluetooth, GPRS and is as cheap as possible. Main use for bluetooth is net access via gprs for my PDA.

Sorry for thread hijack but am after something similar to directhex.

The 7650 is a pretty good phone, you can do a lot with it. My friend had one and he had a video recorder, msn messenhger, loads of games, videos and programs on it turned into a cool piece of kit. It is a wee bit big but it's not huuuuuge.

Loads of people at work have 7650s and it's a pretty decent phone really. It is a bit large though and surprisingly doesn't have bluetooth.

Ah yes, forgot about that. Why do Samsung seem to want to ignore Bluetooth.
Bluetooth isn't seen as such an important feature in Asia and companies tend to focus their efforts on their home market. I beleive that Samsung have now released their first Bluetooth phone and will be putting it in an increasing number of phones in the near future.
