Galaxy Nexus battery drain horrible after update

I own a Galaxy Nexus worked really great - great battery life especially when i installed my 5000 extended battery from mpj, easily last a day and night even played a lots of data...until the update. I was getting so frustrated with it, about 30% more of the battery had drained while it was supposedly asleep. It ended up being on the charger more than it was in my hands. After dealing with the battery life, i did factory reset and reverted back to the original system. It is as if I have my fresh out of the box.

Want to know why update causing battery drain?

What version did you update to and from?

I suspect it was likely due to a rogue app, as doing a factory reset from within the settings is just a wipe of the phone, retaining the current OS version (haven't done this in a while but IIRC, that was how it worked). If you reflashed however, it could be a battery recalibration error, since you are using an aftermarket battery. Give it a few good charge/discharge cycles (from about 10% to full) to see if it recalibrates.

What update was it? There's a lot of complaints about the 4.3 update for the S3 -> http://www.theregister.co.uk/2013/11...pgrade_pulled/

Thanks for your response. It was 4.3 update and I've tried battery calibration without improvement, but all seem well after I went back to the previous system version. Have no idea about the battery issue.
