    Anandtech reviews the Moto G

    More details here:

    http://www.anandtech.com/show/7586/m...-moto-g-review

CPU performance at times is better than the Nexus 4!! GPU performance is of course nowhere as good, but still for most usage,it is not a slow phone.

    Edit!!

Battery life is fantastic and matches what I see with it.

And the 16Gb version has come back into stock on Amazon for the RRP of £160; really quite tempting but I just bought a Fire HDX, so may hold off for a little while longer.

Tempting - I missed the boat on the cheap Nexus 4 (bought my wife one but held out for the Nexus 5 for myself) and while I'd still like the Nexus 5 a half dead dishwasher and a completely dead washing machine (the week before xmas!) mean I really shouldn't spend £300 on a phone any time soon... my HTC sensation is really creaking though.

Get one off Tesco. It costs £99 for the phone plus around £2 to £3 for the unlock code. On top of this there are some money off codes floating about and you can use club card points too.

Thanks Cat - I had totally forgotten about using my clubcard points. I had a ton of vouchers I'd never spent and you can boost (double the value of) your vouchers against the phone too, so I have paid a grand total of £2 for an 8GB Moto G.

I used this seller on Ebay to unlock the phone:

This cheap case will be fine until the better ones start appearing next month:

Re: Anandtech reviews the Moto G

Picked up the phone today and it's awesome so far. It's not quite as nice from a materials perspective as my wife's nexus 4 but for the asking price (nevermind the pittance I paid) it's great, and it does seems well made, just not exactly premium.

I was tempted to get the Nexus 4 but kinda glad I held out as the Moto G seems far more appealing to me (could be the price? ). How does it feel in terms of thickness weight? At 11mm in thickness and 140gramms does it seem pretty hefty?

Re: Anandtech reviews the Moto G

It's a bit smaller than the Nexus 4. That and the fact that it's got a curved back means it fits in the hand nicely - it's nicer to hold and use as a phone than the Nexus 4 (for me at least) though it's not a major difference by any means. Can't say I've paid any thought to the weight - Google reckons it's within a few grams of the Nexus 4 and my old HTC Sensation.

So tempted at the price it's going for. Beats the Galaxy Ace.

Got one of these phones for my dad, now unlocked through that same guy on ebay so thanks for saving me the grief of finding someone that works (had problems with these people in the past). Now works fine with the sim from my phone in it.

Currently watching it update to Android 4.4, really aught to factory reset and wrap it up but rather enjoying having a play atm

My mum's getting one on contract. I keep telling her to just buy as it will turn out more expensive on a contract but she's having none of it
