Anyone got a nexus 5? How bad is the battery?

As title really, I'm in the market for a new phone and looking at this as a decent option (+three internet 200 sim) Its probably gonna be one of these or a G2. I've had LG phones for the last 3 years now and have been reasonably happy (other than the lack of updates, but what you gonna do.

The reviews don't seem to leave much in it, other than the battery on the nexus is awful. Does anyone have one to comment? Is it bad or just not great?

Re: Anyone got a nexus 5? How bad is the battery?

well I have N4 wife has N5. We both find them ok, but if you're a power user, yeah I can see it would suck. I turn off wifi and tend to have to charge every two days, or every day if I've been making calls/really heavy web use with video iplayer etc. The N4 is meant to have worse battery than the N5, but then I guess N5 has bigger screen res so they're probably about even.

Other things to turn off are NFC, GPS and all those other services which, for me anyway, were superfluous battery drainers. Ditto auto-updates to reduce the background download hit

If you toggle Wifi / mobile data off when not in use, the power saving is huge.

I've also seen some custom kernels that give a big increase...but that depends if you want to take it from stock.

That's true of any phone. The shortcut screens on most modern phones mean turning off wifi etc.. takes only a couple of seconds.

My iphone lasts about 5 days on a charge - I accidentally left it on my desk at work on Friday - this morning it's reading 88% battery remaining.

Re: Anyone got a nexus 5? How bad is the battery?

I rarely have wifi on, but am often away for a couple of days at a time with limited access to chargers (i.e. I only packed one) which can be frustrating, as I need to keep my work phone charged.

My present one (Optimus 4X) does about 2 days of use if you've got gps off etc, more on wifi only. although having seen the news article today I am tempted to wait for mot x reviews.

I've had the NXS 5 for a while now and the battery life is decent. Pretty good if you're like me and you turn wifi, bluetooth and everything else off when you're not using it. Gives me about a day of usage.

Re: Anyone got a nexus 5? How bad is the battery?

If battery is a concern, try something like the Z1. Ridiculously good battery life with power saver on. I can get 3 days use out of it depending on what I'm doing.

Around 4-5 hours screen on time too.

Re: Anyone got a nexus 5? How bad is the battery?

Ok, not quite what you asked but I have the LG G2 and with leaving 3G on all day with push emails and what I think it heavy use, I'm left with around 40% at the end of the day IF I'm working in an area with good reception. If I'm not, the phone consumes massive amounts of power trying to get signal and it dies by the end of a 12 hour shift unless I turn off internet. I think battery drain is ultimately a very personal experience depending not just on use but where you are.

The other thing to think about is the screen. I have a friend with a N5 and to my eyes, the whites are noticeably yellow when compared to my G2. The skin tones on the N5 are better however.

on standby i find the battery usage really good. But when the screen is on it does burn through quite quickly. I could probably go for 2 days at a push without having to recharge.

I actually ended up getting one as there was a good deal on them. The red is very very red. i.e. dayglow orange. I kind of like it
