Ovivo mobile - Anyone used them?
A colleague has suggested I look at Ovivo mobile and their free 'contract' so I can get a Nexus 5 direct from google. Has anyone any experience with them?
If they are any good it means I won't need to go for the £12.50 a month deal at tesco mobile for a moto g 16gb (£12.50 *24 = £300) as it will be a similar cost for the nexus 5... (£300+£20 activation).
Re: Ovivo mobile - Anyone used them?
My girlfriend, mother & my eldest son have their free sim.
Basically £20 outlay gets you £15 calling credit but you get something like 200 mins, 300 SMS & 500mb data every month and will only use your credit should you exceed your allowance.
Forgot to add - it piggy-backs Vodafone so if they are poor in your area Ovivo will be as well.
Re: Ovivo mobile - Anyone used them?
I use the same 'free' recurring SIM as above. I only use my mobile rarely, so it's perfect for me.
Re: Ovivo mobile - Anyone used them?
The only issue I remember reading about them is that by signing up you give them permission to sell your information (and new shiny phone number) to whoever they want.
Nothing in life is free ;)
Edit: Quick check on the website seems maybe thats not the case:

I think they also direct your web browser to ads every once in a while when you're online, but I don't use the data part of the plan so that hasn't affected me.
Re: Ovivo mobile - Anyone used them?
This would be a cheap way to have another data SIM.
Re: Ovivo mobile - Anyone used them?
I think they offer a free "data only" sim as well.
Data 0 - 1000 mb data p/m

Is worth looking at if you are looking for a new SIM

That's pretty much how they make any money at all. They sell advertising which they inject into your web browsing and apparently by text message. They do say they'll never interupt app data use or downloads, though - it looks like they monitor your data usage and serve more ads as you use more data - so if you stream a lot of audio you might find it tricky to get to any websites you want to visit for a while ;)
Have to be honest, it looks pretty good to me or an initial £20 outlay - will have to seriously consider it when my contract's up in August...
Re: Ovivo mobile - Anyone used them?
I have the data only sim in a wireless dongle, I turn it on whenever I need a wifi hotspot.
It's great, they just occasionally redirect you to some advertising.
Can't go wrong.
Re: Ovivo mobile - Anyone used them?
Great. Thanks guys. Decided to take the plunge. Love the idea of the Nexus 5. The Moto G is nice but would have felt tiny replacing my Note 1.
Re: Ovivo mobile - Anyone used them?
Ovivo has now upped the free minutes by 50 to increase it to 300 minutes 300 txts 500mb data. :)
Re: Ovivo mobile - Anyone used them?
And..... Its GONE...
Ovivo closing down.

Re: Ovivo mobile - Anyone used them?
I'm still waiting for my PAC code (which I really need). I got a free £10 amazon voucher when I signed up so only a £10 loss for 2 months of service which isn't bad so not going to attempt to get a refund.
Re: Ovivo mobile - Anyone used them?
Ovivo has now shut down - there is a new thread about this here:
