    Re: OnePlus One

Hi. Can someone briefly explain what the invite thing is about please?

Been reading this thread with some interest since I'm thinking of upgrading from my old Samsung S2.

    Re: OnePlus One

Since the company is quite small, they've not been able to mass produce the phone like apple would. As such, they've had to make the buying system invite only.

However, they're relatively easy to pickup, and since Biscuit has just bought one, I'm sure he wouldn't mind sending you an invite (he'll have them in a week or so).

    Thanks for the fast reply.

I've just read that this phone can't access 4G for UK Vodafone users. That the case?

I'm on EE so I cant really comment. Certainly works for me as I had LTE last night at my GF's.

    Re: OnePlus One

You'd be correct there. In their infinite wisdom, they decided to leave out the 800MHz frequency for 4G signal, meaning that providers that rely on it (Vodafone, O2) can't provide you 4G, and those that use it along with other frequencies offer you supposedly weaker signal. I've not found this to be the case though, with EE or 3 in Cardiff. Then again, could be because signal is good anyway?

    Re: OnePlus One

Yeah OnePlus for 4G means EE or Three, but it works very well with EE in my experience thus far.

    Re: OnePlus One

As others have said it only works on EE and Three for 4g. Three will be using the 800mhz frequency at some point but as of right now no part of their network uses it so the 4g signal should be just as strong as any other 4g phone, I know personally I have had no issues with 4g on my OnePlus One in Plymouth but it just means that in the future further expansion of the 4g network may not be useable by the OPO due to the 800mhz limitation.

I believe the OnePlus Two is going to have a european version (was in a reddit as me anything for oneplus) which will enable support for full 4g but really I dont see it as a problem.

That's a shame, because there is no 4G signal from either EE or Three where I live, and Vodafone is the strongest.

    Re: OnePlus One

So Oxygen OS is meant to be released on the OPO on Thursday which from what I've read is basically a stock Lollipop experience which they have done in house.

The issues with the Indian market and Cyanogen has forced them to move in this direction but it may be a good thing. Only problems I see is their team is pretty small already and I'm not sure they have expanded at all to take on this software end.

Ah well we shall see. I'll try it out just to get working spotify on Lollipop but if they haven't brought over things like double tap to wake etc from Cyanogen then they have failed! (can't live without that now )

    Re: OnePlus One

Seeing as an alpha build was released a short time ago, I'd be surprised if it's bug free. Then again, with all of India being bug testers, they'll have had some good feedback!

    How's the Spotify issue?

Supposedly new CM11s OTA incoming too with Maxx Audio. I wonder if it'll make a difference at all...

    Re: OnePlus One

I suppose if its stock lollipop there isn't much to test. Plenty of 5.0.0-5.0.02 roms for the OPO kicking about already. Ah well we shall see I guess, won't take long for some feedback

Spotify issues seems to get better with some nightlies and then worse with the next. I just don't listen to it on my commute anymore.

    Re: OnePlus One

    Ah, that's a shame.

I've forced ART on KitKat, and it flies. Much quicker than lollipop, albeit it's laggier and not as smooth.

Currently worth the trade off though, as I'm stuck in traffic in Cardiff listening to music on Spotify!

    Re: OnePlus One

So whats new in the OPO world...

They did their Oxygen Rom Announcement yesterday which was basically "We are making a Rom! Here is our cool hip team!" with limited information about the rom itself

Looks like CM12S will be OTA this month, it's not 100% but its in line with that Cyanogen promised back in December time.

On the CM12nightly front there is still Spotify issues.

MaxxAudio has been ported, I will stick it on my phone today and test after work.

This guy has done some great things with the CM11S camera. Unlocking shutters speeds, 30 & 50 burst mode, doubling bitrate on video, enabling 4K video in CM12.
