    Re: OnePlus One

Apologies for bumping a somewhat inactive thread.

Have any of you who own one of these had any issues with the phone itself? What's the customer support like? My Moto G has just had what I assume to be a catastrophic Internal Storage failure but thats another story entirely.

Anyway Motorola are offering to repair that but I'm thinking I may take the opportunity to use the refund Amazon offered to put £135 + my own money towards getting the OnePlus One since both spec wise and hopefully quality wise (due to price) it should last a lot longer. I'm not noticing much by searching around google but then this storage failure is quite odd for the Moto G too so thought I would check anyway.

    Re: OnePlus One

Well I've searched around and seems like the newest OS has various issues but most of them only affect very few people.

What does worry me however is the 210 page thread + reddit thread about the touchscreen not working/ghosting in warm weather. Has this been a problem for anyone in the UK at all? This seems like a potentially disastrous issue to be having right as the weather is starting to brighten up. Sounds like it may be fixed in the newer models being shipped so I might be fine buying it now, just wondering if anyone has any input on these issues.

I haven't had any hardware issues on mine yet, still runs wonderfully and the battery is as good as the day it arrived. The CS isn't too bad by the accounts I've read, but it's not going to be as good as Amazon.

I know some people have had issues with some of the nightly OS builds, but I tend to just wait for the latest OTAs.

Thanks, majority of the issues do seem to be very rare, just this touchscreen heat thing is really concerning me, seeing a few people on the reddit thread saying theyre experiencing it in the UK which is particularly concerning.

    Re: OnePlus One

I'd never heard of the screen issue before and haven't noticed it myself - been out in some fairly hot weather as well. Got mine in September so not one of the very first models - I'd say it's probably less a problem in reality as the odd internet rant about it suggests.

I would have thought the phone design goes through some environmental tests such as high/low temperatures for certification reasons so it might have just been a bad batch of screens. Doubt 1+ would still be sending them out if it's a known fault with a batch.

    Re: OnePlus One

Ye seems like only a few of each batch are developing the fault each month. People are suggesting its an issue with them using glue rather than insulating tape to connect the touch screen, leading to the glue softening up in warm weather meaning the connection can start to become loose.

This sounds like the kind of thing that is a manufacturing defect developing in a few phones of each batch with the majority working just fine, the glue may not be setting properly or not quite in the correct location or whatever.

    Re: OnePlus One

    Finally !

new touch firmware without drain is out, didn't find it posted here so in case it has been posted already i'm sorry but better twice then never, didn't find it however.

the patch comes with hardware detection because there are 3 different display batches built into our OPOs and the hardware detection detects which one it is and installs
the correct fix. this as well puts an end to: some see improvements while others complain about deterioration:-)

LINK for download: the patch works perfect without the previous drain but with the same great performance. uff..... was about time :good:

perhaps you can upvote our device to receive this new gadget which found recently on the OPO-Forum

    Re: OnePlus One

    first 3 nights = 10h idle = 5% drain
before it was 2-4% over many months

so i will watch out if there will be a bit of improvement, new kernel, new rom version can cause a bit more drain the first few nights but even if that's it, i'm absolutely happy with that.

BTW found a nice gadget on XDA, could be an OPO like startup which perhaps brings us a paradigm change in mobile computing?

Specs on it look pretty nice again, but yet again no MicroSD so guess I'm sticking with my G3

    Re: OnePlus One

I honestly don't understand the need for a MicroSD slot on a device with 64GB internal memory.
The two things i'm most in need of are OIS for the camera(check) and support for 4G(check) so i'm currently leaning towards getting one

Having bought the original and deciding it was too big for me on day one I'm going to have to pass again. I decided at that point 4.7" to 5.1" was the sweet spot for me, unfortunately that means most phones automatically fall outside my criteria

I guess I'm a bit of a unique case, as I'm on an old contract with my ISP, we have a data cap but it doesnt apply 12am-8am. I generally find downloading to my phone to be more preferable to leaving my PC running all night. I have a 64GB MicroSD in my LG G3 and I still cap it out frequently. I would have gone for the 32GB+3GB Ram version but they don't seem to be available over here. As it stands my internal memory is about half full and the SD floats between 30GB used and being fully maxed out. I'll probably end up buying a 128GB MicroSD once the price on them drops a bit.

I'm worried about this too. I've been offered a OPO quite cheaply and could palm off my 5C on my wife, but wonder if this might be too big for me. Unfortunately it means when I do replace my 5C I will have to grab something much larger.
