DNLA Streaming App

Hi Guys

I have been using Bubble UPnP to stream content from my phone to my internet connected DNLA compliant TV for years with no issues. However, when they updated the app recently to include Chromecast support (changed app icon from black square with green play icon to yellow circle) it now no longer works with my TV. It starts to send the content to the TV as per norm but then causes the TV to turn itself off and then on again all by itself!?!?!?

Having contacted Bubblesoft about it and not got much info from then I'm a little upset that one of the best things about my phone has been taken away!

As such can anyone recommend a similar android app for streaming content via DNLA please, pref with a free version so I can try it out and then purchase if it fits the bill.

Have you tried Skifta? I use it to play stuff from my server onto my tv, doesn't do any transcoding but apart from that I've had no complaints

Thanks, will take a look. Have a feeling I might need transcoding though as the TV doesn't support much itself.

Hmm didn't do what I needed it to do unfortunately but thanks for the suggestion.

I would mostly pass content from say You Tube to Bubble by using semperVidLinks and then use Bubble to play the content on TV.

Can anyone else recommend something?

I suspect bubble will have broken because it used to DL the video, transcode it then serve it up via dnla. Chromecast supports builtin youtube streaming so it'll just be sending the URL over. I've not used it for a long time as I find skifta much more reliable, but it may have a setting in either the client or server about whether to download & proxy files or just to pass URLs.
