i9300 not charge and auto shut down

My galaxy S3 auto shuts down consequently and having some problem with the batteries, both of the stock and a spare from mpj. I plug in the phone but it cannot be charged. The red light is flashing for second’s interval, then no red light and it goes on this way continuously. I am not a tech savvy and have no idea why. Thanks in advanced for any help!

Have you tried a different USB cable or charging off a PC?

Are the phones USB contacts clean? Small paint brush/toothbrush to clean.

Get one of those external battery charging cradles from Amazon, MobileFun, etc (not eBay!). Charge the battery with that and see if the S3 springs into life. And while you're on a shopping spree see if you can get/borrow another cable.

If the battery charges, then see if it'll charge/connect to a PC. If it does then it's probably not the charge/data port that's to blame.

If it doesn't then it looks like a duff port. There's companies out there that might repair it for you. Otherwise you can always go for wireless charging - add a Qi back or battery sticker.
