So I chose the Z2 over the M8.

    Hi guys,

Vodafone let me upgrade before my upgrade date for no charge and in the end I went with the Xperia Z2 over the M8. I have 7 days to send it back if I don't like it.

Can you guys think of a reason that I made the wrong decision? Have any of you got the Z2? Any complaints?

    Thanks

I have the M8 and love it... Then again, i was coming from a htc one S, so it's just a big brother of a previous phone

Wrong reasons - erganomics, battery life and that's about it. Everything is equal or better on the Z2.

Not sure if the Z2 suffers with the same issues as my Z1 but my camera becomes really grainy and has alot of noise when taking photos in the dark, really irritating especially if you use Snapchat alot.

Apart from the fact I think the M8 is better looking, you made the right choice

Re: So I chose the Z2 over the M8.

Personally i have had good results with Sony. Everyone whinges about developers releasing updates for handsets and/or locking down the bootloader, but Sony are generally OK with updates and im pretty sure you can unlock almost all their handsets for custom ROMS.
I also prefer the build quality from Sony vs almost all other manufacturers. They seem to look and feel like more of a quality device and be a bit more robust. Note that thats not to say the M8 is bad quality, i just prefer the Sony.

My SP just received and update for 4.3, granted its very very late but its more of a mid range rather than a flagship and itsa come along with a lot of bug fixes and performance tweaks so im a happy bunny.

I just had a play with the Z2 and Z1c in the airport. Z1c is just a perfect handset IMO. Size is spot on. Z2 is an awesome device, but for me its way too big!

Had the same choice, went with the Z2. 2 months later am really satisfied with my choice. The Z2 is a doozy of a phone.

+1 for the Sony due to the waterproof/dustproofing. I've had my S4 Active for ages now and I'm never getting a non-waterproof phone again.

Re: So I chose the Z2 over the M8.

I recently sent back a Z2. Great build quality and design, but plagued by many software bugs and glitches. 1 particular bug was the notification sounds were way too low, even though turned up to the max!

It seems as though Sony aren't to bothered about the Z2 now with the Z3 looming, check the community forums for feedback. Great hardware, flawed by sloppy support and slow release of fixes.

Slow software releases is very true, it takes them a while but they do fix it!

Re: So I chose the Z2 over the M8.

I agree, it does get fixed eventually. I still own the Xperia Z, which after a year or so now is a soild bit of kit. The Sony Playstation seems to get regular updates, shame the support isn't the same for the mobile division.
