Tablet software for a 6 year old
I think we are going to have to give in and get our sic year old a tablet of some sort for christmas. We have looked at the Samsung Galaxy Kids Tab, but it seems a lot of money for a Tab 3 with limitations.
Been thinking about getting a fairly basic tablet for about £100 and installing a new launcher and a bunch of apps on it for her. Anyone used any of the kids centric launchers? Any pointers for apps to install?
Cheers

We got ours a Tab 3 with a decent case instead ( the Tab 3 came free with a fridge :D ) We keep an eye on what she uses it for - mostly for chromecasting netflix !

My son is 6, his school has signed up to mathletics. Am online competitive maths thing. I would be happy getting more me an 'adult' tablet. He is careful 'most' of the time. As above a strong case may help. Thereay be some cheap tegra notes kicking around.

I don't think you need a specific kids tablet, not even a kids launcher really, just sign up to the tablet with your account, create a restricted account for the little one and manually allow the apps you want them to have access too. I have done that for my old N7 that i gave to my GF for her little one.
Every now and then i log in and remove apps she doesn't use and add some new ones. Works great!

I'm not so sure about just using a limited account on a regular tablet. She is pretty good at hunting through menus and randomly pressing things. The amount of times she has messed up her Kiddizoom camera by messing with the language or similar :)
I would also like to find an app where she could send and receive video messages to certain people really easily. It might come down to me getting a tablet and just trying out some options before we get her one.

My little girl has one of those Nabi 2 tablets (Tegra 3 based). It's pretty decent for a kids tablet and was a bargain as we got it half price from scan a little while ago. It has a kids mode and adult mode which is handy :).
