Well, if I was tempted by the Nexus 6, I'm not now. $649 translates to about £400 plus tax, so £480, same as Z3, M8, G3 etc. That's before they add the Atlantic Tax, so it'll probably end up over £500. Compared to Apple products, yes it's cheaper for arguably a better-specced phone, but it's too much for me.

Anyone know where you can pick up Nexus 5s cheap?

Hmm, I was thinking about a Nexus 6 but it's just too big I think, plus I just got a Z3 and was disappointed in some respects by that compared to my Nexus 5. So I think I'll just stick to my N5 running Lollipop which is just about perfect for the moment I reckon

I was thinking about the G3, but my wife's just got one and I don't want us to look like Howard and Hilda.

No sign of a price reduction on the N5 at Play store, but at other online shops there's some good prices...

I dont' think there will be a price cut in the short term on the N5. That looks like it's going to remain their mid tier phone for a while.

Motorola seem to be rolling Lollipop out to quite a few products, including my Moto G. Even the Moto E seems to be getting it

I think they are making a big mistake with the price. The main attraction for me with this line was the price now they got rid of that for only slightly more i can get a much better phone that is waterproof and has a longer battery.

Right, it's come down to Nexus 5 at £289 for 32gb or LG G3 32GB (in a different colour from the wife's) for £339.

Hmmm is the G3 worth £50 extra?

Scrap that, the site I could get the G3 for £339 at is Simply Electronics, seeing some very scary stories coming from there. Next best is £365...

Have you considered a OnePlus? £280 for a 64Gb phone that crushes the N5 and goes toe-to-toe with the G3.

The invites are actually quite easy to get hold of if you join the begging list on the 1+ forums (and I know there'll be some floating around on Hexus soon as well). They are doing the 1 hour pre-order thing which gives you a chance of ordering one without an invite, so long as the website doesn't fold under pressure.

Warranty seems pretty good, fill in a claim online and they'll repair/replace:

2 years in the EU, and they cover shipping.

Personally I'd go for Oppo Find 7 or 7a over a 1+1. Micro SD card slot, 4G/Lte on all major networks, Ultra QHD display on the Find 7 if you want that etc. Easy to get hold of with European Store & Support.

Thought that didn't have a micro SD slot? Puts me off, and very strange given the G and E models have one.

Moto X - Great phone, terrible battery life. But if you can live with that then it's not a bad choice.

In other news: Read on Twitter that its not looking likely the UK will see the Nexus 6 delivered this side of Xmas!!! Looks like Google may have cocked up their supply chain yet again!!!!
