    Question Recommend me a Tablet

    Hi,
I'd like to get a tablet, and I've not really been following the tech on these recently. So would appreciate some recommendations.

The main use will be just for casual browsing for the Mrs and little kids. And it must have be able to run Youtube and Skype, as well as general net browsing. Price range I'm aiming for is about £250.

I am planning to get a gaming PC later on, so the Nvidia Shield tablet looked interesting, but I'm not really sure it has all the features I mentioned above. Plus I'm not sure it is the best for this price range. Any suggestions?

Pretty impressed with the Hudl 2 if that's all you're after.

I would avoid Nexus 7 devices as well anything from Asus.

If you start your tablet search with loudness of speaker you will end up with something decent.

Why the comment - avoid nexus 7? I have been looking at the 2013 model and it seems to be a nice gadget. I have a Samsung Tab s 8.4 ) admittedly out of his price range) but am looking for a 2nd unit for my nephew.

I think the Nexus 7 2012 was rushed out and had quality issues. We have 4 of these at home all fine but lots of folk reported problems.

Maybe go to the Google area. I would go for a Nexus 2013 edition. I own one and it runs very fast now and has the latest version of android running on it. And its also only £170

    Re: Recommend me a Tablet

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7" is a good tablet to consider along with the other Samsung Galaxy Tab/Note range. However, these tablets are fairly expensive.
Nevertheless, Amazon do seem to compile tablets from sellers ranging from as cheap as £26 to £80 which could suit your purpose. However, I would keep a close eye on the camera specifications as you do say Skype will be used - I would doubt a gritty camera in general wouldn't suffice, but maybe it will, it depends.
Also, the Nexus 7 is a quality tablet especially considering its price.

Stay away from the Hudl 2. I have had 3 in this house and all been sent back at one point due to screen Issues. Batter life is poor and you can fry and egg on it when it's been used for netflix for 30mins

My 2013 nexus 7 in the other hand. Brill device. Great for browsing Web and video consumption. Sips battery.
