    4G portable hotspot recomendations

Anybody here use a mifi type unit for 4G mobile internet? I am after a device to use with the 6Gb EE sim cards (cost around £15, data runs out after 90 days), and takes external antennas, although that's not a deal breaker. I have seen the Huawei E5377s for around £75, although ideally a cheaper unit. EE do the kite which I think is a E5878s-32 for a similar price, or ebay HUAWEI E589 for £50ish.

I would be looking at a small amount of daily use, with larger amounts of use when on a boat (inland waterways), when I would consider adding an external antenna.

    Cheers

I use an Alcatel One Touch Y800 which was EE branded, but I unlocked. It works well, but does not have external antenna provision. It is about 12 months old, so might have been superseded.

That's what we used to use at my old company. Sometimes there would be 15 of them in a small office and they still worked pretty well, so can't complain!

Ended up going for an EE Buzzard wifi dongle. Its a rebadged and hopefully easy to unlock Huawei E8278. Plan is to run it from an external battery pack, or from an in vehicle 12V socket, reason for getting this one is that its relatively cheap (£40) and takes external aerials. Speedtest result below.

    edited to add.
Just run DC Unlocker and it appears to be unlocked already. Need to try another simcard in it to check.
