Shock, horror!
My HUDL told me last night there was an update waiting, I thought it would just be a minor one, but it turns out it's the 5.1 update. Installed OK, took a while but that's to be expected.
This morning has not been so good. 2 crashes, problems connecting to The Cloud wifi, space issues and general slowness. I'm doing a factory reset, so we'll so how it turns out after that.
Just in time for Android 6 release
I hope the battery life is improved though, and given the HUDL 1 wasn't so fortunate in its updates this is rather good news.

The wife's Hudl2 updated last night.
At first it seemed pretty hosed, so I suggested firing up Google Play store and sure enough some key components wanted updating. It seems happy now.
It only does Facebook and Candy Crush mind, so it hasn't exactly been stressed
Mine's fine since the factory reset, once I'd got Google Now launcher on, that is...
Battery life, responsiveness etc seem the same, so all in all, OK with me...
Smudger, can I ask you a few questions about the reset?
Did you do a hardware or software reset?
How do you restore after a reset?

wow, tesco were so slow to release any new updates to this... i do hope modaco will release a new rooted rom
To be fair, I wasn't expecting any updates at all, so being only one iteration behind is a bonus to me!
Just had the flashing battery charge light this morning, does this mean I'm going to be afflicted by the infamous battery issues? I pulled out the charging cable and put it back in and it's gone back to a solid orange light now...

2) As soon as you login to your Google account after the reset, it asks you if you want to restore from backup. Works pretty well now, most apps are restored and go into the same groups as I had them in before.
Anyway, not good news this morning: looked at my Hudl which had been left on all night, and the screen was just white. Switched it off and back on again, got the annoying Hudl startup sound, and then the screen gradually increased contrast until the whole this was white again. Anyone seen this, is there a fix, or is it back to the shop with it?
Only thing is, they're not making them any more, so if there's no stock, I don't get a new one...
Sounds like the ribbon cable into the screen is not quite in right

They're going to pick it up and send it off for repair. THe bloke said they'd probably just replace the whole screen unit.
I'd hoped they's do a direct swapout, but apparently as it's over 30 days old, I don't get that.
