Basic mobile phone suggestions
My long abused Sony Ericcson Elm is coming to the end of its life and i need a new mobile. I only make a few calls, texts and basic photos with my mobile so im looking for a handset that is small, has good call quality, a good camera and will hold a charge for a week. What would you recommend? All the very basic phones i have seen recently feel cheap and plasticky.
Re: Basic mobile phone suggestions
Sony Z3 compact. It's not basic, but otherwise meets the requirements. Failing that I'd look at Chinese brands.
Re: Basic mobile phone suggestions
keep an eye out for medions on special at Aldi; picked one up for my stepson recently for £90 and he's very happy with it indeed.

As great a phone as the Z3 compact is (& I absolutely love the Z3 and it's variants) I don't think it'll meet the OP requirements. No smart phone, unless it's on Marshmallow with Doze running efficiently, will last a week with normal usage. That said it depends what holds a charge means, i.e. charged up, switched on but not touched and most apps disabled, then yes it may just last a week. However if you're looking for a phone that can last a week with normal (minimal) usage then I'm afraid you're looking at just feature phones only probably. And I don't know of any feature phones that have a good camera on them, as the OP has found they all tend to be cheap plastic & crap.

Just read an article about dumb phones and the the Sharp Aquos K looks like a contender:

Re: Basic mobile phone suggestions
Nokia 230 is touted as a photo-lovers feature phone but it's only 2MP and lacks 3G, so definitely a step down from your old SE.
The nokia 515 can be imported from the continent via Amazon UK, might not be ideal though.
Samsung Utopia? 3G, 5MP camera, claimed 310hr standby? Specs: http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_s5611-6505.php
Available from a number of UK based Amazon sellers (including one fulfilled by Amazon): http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-lis...&condition=new
EDIT: for all the Aquos K is a flip phone, the internals and basis are a standard mid-range Android smartphone and I'd be amazed if it would manage a day on standby, let alone a week (also, it's a Japan exclusive launch...).
Re: Basic mobile phone suggestions
I'm not sure if it's exactly what your looking for, but the lumia 530 is great
£60, various colours
Has a decent enough camera, does everything you want and a few other things too! I'm getting along fine with my one!
Re: Basic mobile phone suggestions
I think it's better to go for Nokia 220 or 215.
