yeh very nice phone...only thing i am dispointed with is the video... on the tv advert it looks real smooth and the supposed 1.3mb pixel playback; but then we have seen this with the SL65... The reality is its slow....I personally would prefer a slightly worse quality and a fast playback... like the nokia 6230 for example, crappy quality but oh so smooth real time video same goes for the funky nokia 7600 Its a shame as the D500 seems imho to be nicest phone around atm. the bit that makes it slide up and down on the rails can be hard to get used to as its right by the central button, with ok/left/right/up/down you know the silver/cleary colour one, (like the E700 buton; the one with the blue glow around it, but in a oval/circle) but altho strange at first i expect you will get to grips with it... after all its there to slie the phone open and closed... i would have prefered a button tbh tho. like the matrix nokia had, sure it will wear out after a while but still, while it lasts ...
apart from these minor flaws i would say you get a lot of bang for your buck. but then contract is the beauty as you techincally buying a phone with free credit

It looks like a fine phone, if you're not in the market for a smartphone.

They only issue I've heard people complaining about is the slide mechanism - apparently it's not all that smooth.

I've had my D500 for about a month now and love it. Best phone I have had in ages. Tried a SE s700i before I decided on the D500, and found the s700i too big and bulky but the D500 just right. Highly recommend it.

I would guess because it's a cheap smartphone.

The 6230, K700i (apart from on Vodaphone, because they disable it) and D500 can use mp3s as ringtones.

The C500 can't, but can use WMAs. I guess it's another case of Microsoft being lame and only supporting their own products.

Nope, but don't forget that WMA uses more battery power than MP3 as it's more computationally complex. Not much of a concern when it's a ringtone, but it becomes more of an issue when you're using the phone as a music player.
