    Android / Google Contact

I have a bunch of contacts on my Galaxy S3 not synchronised with my Google account, and most of which I would like to keep it that way. Is there any way to pick only the contacts I'd like to move from my phone to my Google account (and vice-versa). Edit: A single group would be acceptable too if I have to.

Secondly, is there any way of making part of your contact list private from 3rd party apps? Some communication (e.g. VoIP) apps ask for access to the contact list on the phone. While somewhat justified, it would be preferable if I didn't have to share my entire contact.

    Thanks.

I'm sure you are allowed to edit the PERMISSIONS when installing apps, so if you don't want to share 'Contacts' or 'Microphone' etc you can just Deny Access to that part?

Yeah, it has become possible to do that. While a huge improvement, what I want is be able to be selective about the people in the contact my app has access to. Just because I have someone in my phone contact, doesn't mean that I necessarily want him in all my social network / chatting app. I do not use the same e-mail address for everything, and I do not add everyone, everywhere. But I figured that might be a longshot not possible without the assistance of an app (and probably rooted phone).. if possible at all.

The first thing I asked though, is pretty shocking that it can't be resolved using just a simple checkbox or similar of where you want the contact saved / moved to.

Could you setup a second user profile on your phone and have these other contacts separated that way? A bit drastic, but might be a work around?
