Virgin Mobile 4G
Anyone else on it?
I recently swapped from 3G to 4G, got the new SIM, activated it, put it in my phone and waited for swap-over date. That's been and gone and I'm still only getting H+ displaying on the notification area. I did a speedtest as well, this came in at c4.5mbps.
So far, not happy. It's going to take me ages to get through 20Gb a month at this rate...

Re: Virgin Mobile 4G
I'm not on Virgin but I used to work for EE.
I know that Virgin piggybacks off the EE network (which is pretty fast depending where you live) so the speeds should be comparable. St Albans (as far as I remember) should be pretty good. Best thing to do is check the signal strength on Virgin's site. If that's all good, it could be one of a few things:
1) If using an iPhone, resetting network settings is the first go-to. Not sure what phone you have but for iPhone users: Settings - General - Reset - Reset Network Settings. PLEASE select the correct one there and don't accidentally erase your phone. I've had people do this and oh boy its bad.
2) There could be a carrier update that needs to be rec'd by your phone. Give em a call and they should be able to send network settings.
3) Strange but phone cases can impede on signal strength. I used to have one many moons ago, forgot what but removing it gave me a couple bars more signal.

Re: Virgin Mobile 4G
2 things to check off the top of my head
1. Is there virgin 4G in your area.
2. Is the phone network setting set to 4G as the preferred band. (it would help knowing what the was)
Other things to try, toggle airplane mode off and on to force a network reconnect and also check your apn settings.

Re: Virgin Mobile 4G
Thanks guys. I woke up this morning, checked when I got near work, and hey presto! 4G. Maybe I was being a little impatient...
I did the whole 'fiddle with the phone' bit, asked VM to re-send the settings etc and there was no change.
When I was testing, i was in central London, should be well covered but it still said H+
According to the VM map, I should have 'excellent' 4g coverage where I am, and I do outside the house. Inside, nada. I think we must have the house lined with tin foil or something.
But anyway, it's all good now, and I'm getting 30mbps
