    Re: Honor 9

I only ever hear that Huawei are slack with updates and you are lucky to get one after a year.

Personally I only stick with snap dragon based ones. At least then you can go for lineage or resurrection remix etc if you feel like it.

    Re: Honor 9

Well, whatever the update speed is, it can't be worse than what I've got. The Moto X Force was the flagship phone when I got it, just over a year ago. It was launched in November 2015 and phones - according to Google - are supposed to get updates for at least 18 months. Seeing as Nougat was launched well before the year was even It stayed on the same security update until late last year, and even though I'm on the soak-test list, I've had nothing through that. It seems Nougat is trickling out around the world for the phone (Turbo 2 - basically the same phone - has had it since January) but not apparently in the UK yet. And now the next flavour of Android is still just around the corner.

    Re: Honor 9

On a serious note, I checked out both the Honor and the LG yesterday, both very nice, seem to be about the same size in the hand, but obvs the LG has a bigger screen within the similar-sized chassis. The LG is an attractive price on that site, but I'm not sure I'm ready to take the risk on a grey import. I've had no trouble with any previous phone that's caused a return, but still, it's nice to know I can take it back if necessary. I might wait a month and see what price the Nokia 6 comes in at...

My last phone had a 7.x update, but I left it on 6 - don't think there was anything that didn't work on it. 7 does have some nice new features if it's available for your device, specially the native split screen apps.

Well it's not great as shortly that will be 2 iterations behind what is the current OS but more importantly you should be looking at what the Android Security Patch Level is. I'd say that if older than 6 months out of date I would be sad face. .

What about a mint 2nd hand Galaxy S7, some still have warranty on them and you can pick them up for sometimes a lot less than £300. It is still an absolutely great phone with a top notch camera.

There's something about Samsungs that I just don't like. Which is weird cos my tellies, br players and fridge are all Samsung. I think it's Touchwiz. I like as close to pure Android as I can get.

    Re: Honor 9

I know what you mean about Touchwiz but it's miles better than it used to be and with Nova Launcher installed I found it fine. the Honor on the other hand is about as far away from pure android as you can get so bare that in mind.

What about a 2nd hand OnePlus 3T???? Nearly stock android, lightening fast and good support so far.

    Re: Honor 9

Well, I popped into CPW this lunchtime, and there is a dearth of phones that I like the look of. I quite like the look of the HTC U (11?) with the squeezy sides, but I'm not paying over £600 for a phone. Might just go for the Moto G5 Plus for £250 and go budget for now. Or wait for the G5S Plus to be announced...

I do know though that as soon as I buy something new, my X Force will get its Nougat update and feel like a new phone again...
