    baffling issue with Plex.....

I've just set up a Plex server (I know, I'm a bit behind the curve....). Anyway, when I play stuff back on my Chromecast, it's fine, providing I do it from my PC. What I really want to do is operate it from my phone, or the iPad. This works brilliantly, lovely interface etc, but when I cast media from any mobile device - Android or iOS, the sound volume is in the toilet. The accepted wisdom is that Plex is trying to output 6 channel sound to the Chromecast (which doesn't work so well), so I've tweaked the chromecast.xml so it only tries to output 2 channel audio, seeing as I'm only using the telly speakers. This hasn't made a difference. Everything else, YouTube etc is perfect volume wise, and the same rules that are too quiet are fine when cast with something else, like Videostream. With that in mind, it would seem to be an issue with the way Plex interfaces with mobile devices. Does anyone have a clue to a setting I can change to alter Plex's behaviour through mobile devices?

    baffling issue with Plex.....

I know what you mean as I have have issues with Playing files through Plex as it depends on the source file in my experience.

Have a look through your web server settings and find the audio boost settings and bump it up a notch or 2.

That only affects the Web Player sound.

Sound settings are client specific. RasPlex/OpenPHT have options to "normalise" the sound and boost the middle channel. I don't use a Chromecast, so don't know what settings are offered, but the settings would be there and not on the server.
