Replacement for iPhone 5c
My phone is frustrating the hell out of me atm, but I don't want to stay in the apple ecosystem - worried that even if I were to replace it with an iPhone SE, I'd still be within their cycle of OSes becoming extremely slow after a couple of years, and am led to believe in general that the Android OS is more ethical in general, so am looking to change, but specifically I want a small phone - I have no interest in a phone that requires 2 hands for most functions and that barely fits in my pockets.
Am looking at the LG Leon, the LG Spirit, & the Galaxy Core Prime - any thoughts on these, and any others I should be looking at?
Thanks!

You’d have the same issue with updates on an android device, even more so a budget one. I’ve got an iPhone SE and it’s a fantastic device, the move to NAND flash means it’s really fast at loading things. There’s a possibility that a new SE may come out early next year so it may be worth waiting if you want something that will last you a long time.

Really? So the intentional slowing down of old phones by pushing a new iOS onto the customer that reduces ease of use and the spikes in the fault rate leading up to the release of new phones are not only shared by other OS providers, but matched by them?
I'm very used to the iphone having had one for almost 10 years but enough is enough. Having said that, a new SE would make me happy. But then sad again when they make a new iOS that slows my phone right down again, in like 4 years.
Re: Replacement for iPhone 5c
Later versions of any OS tends to require more resources, so older devices may not cope so well. It happened with my old (non -android) Blackberry, and also to my Motorola G2 (which was actually a very nice phone, but limited in resources)
If you want to go Android, you might start by looking at the Motorola, very little bloatware (apart from the stuff Google forces on you) and a good screen. But get plenty of RAM.
Re: Replacement for iPhone 5c
The new Sony XZ1 compact maybe? It was only released a month or two ago so should have plenty of life.
Re: Replacement for iPhone 5c
Even though I am not a fan of iPhones there is way too much fragmentation on the Android side, with companies and operators not bothering to transition phones to newer versions of Android unless you use third party ROMs.
Edit!
My mate with a 5s said the latest update caused performance issues but TBH 4 years is a lot for a phone.

My wife's got the Moto G5, it's a decent phone, but I ditched my Moto X Force because Moto were useless at pushing out updates, after being very good when they were part of Google (my Moto X2014 was a lovely phone, wish I'd kept it).
Have you looked at Nokia (N3, N6 etc)? They're pretty much Pure Android, and they have promised to keep to timely updates...

I opted for the Pixel (one, not XL) 128gb. It's amazing to me just how much more fluid and easy android is than iOS. Still having lots of issues with the keyboard, but otherwise pretty happy.

Hmm, I tried that and found it very unhelpful - in fact it completely messed up my workflow - couldn’t get rid of it fast enough. However if it works for you :)

:p I found the opposite going from Android to IOS - just shows that one size does not fit all! Glad to hear you have found a device that fits in with your workflow/needs.
Re: Replacement for iPhone 5c
I moved from a Nexus 5 to a Samsung S7 - great camera but the lag on Samsung's UI skin really irritates me. Will be going for a more pure Android build ASAP.
Oneplus
Motorola
Essential
Google
...I'd probably only go with one of these at the moment. Pixel 2 is in my sights, light, best camera, pure android and dual front facing speakers...

Yeah, I don't use the Swype function, that just annoys me. I like the multi-character facility with a long-press. Recently had to set up a couple of iPhone SEs, found it really annoying inputting passwords that were alphanumeric/special characters and having to swap pages all the time rather than just long press...

I agree, android is easy to use than iOS
