My mum's moto G2 keeps looping on 'optimising apps' then restarting. Any tips to recover?

Not rooted. Using the lastest version of android available to her phone.

If you don't mind wiping it then you should be able to get to fastboot / the bootloader. Looks like the device codename is Titan: https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/titan. Might be a good opportunity to install LineageOS, the other option would be to try to find and flash the original images onto the phone.

Have you shut it down and restarted? It may running low on memory. If that solves it then removing unwanted apps (or disabling those that cant be deleted) that may solve the underlying problem.

I'll have a look. I assume that means rooting the phone?
Does this upgrade the version of android past the latest one pushed out by motorola? What advantages of installing LineageOS do?

It switches on, does the boot screen, then starts optimising apps 1 out of 150 and then restarts itself at 75ish. After it restarts then it goes back to optimising apps 1 out of 150.

She's not very computer-literate. So I can't image her installing tons of apps, although she does take a lot of pictures and complains of whatsapp taking up a lot of space.
