    Talk to me about smarwatches

My traditional watch crocked it earlier this year and since then I've told myself I'll hold out for BF/Christmas sales to look into Smartwatches.

THe only thing is, reviews don't seem to be very in-depth and then the 'Best of 2018' lists (I know) don't appear to make any good comparisons/contrasts either.

I have become a lot more active over the last year or so, so I am interested in that side of the functionality, but I do want something that looks half decent so when I do look at it to politely end meetings it doesn't look like an early 00s G-Shock.

    I'm on Android (9, OP 5T FWIW) so Apple is a no-go.

Any suggestions or decent reviews I should look through? Are we expecting any major shifts in the landscape before CES/MWC or similar?
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

Fenix 5X is what I use. Depends what features you want though, as mine is more of a health tracker with smart notifications than something like an iWatch which will let you do the media consumption/reply.

Wouldn't buy one right now to be honest, as new watches with more appropriate SoC's are due early next year I believe. Until then Android smart watches are pretty much doa.

I bought a Fenix 3, primarily to give me a speed indicator while sailing my dinghy. Never intended to use it as a smart watch but it's proved invaluable for diary notifications. Head down focussed on a problem, watch buzzes, oh yeah, need to be somewhere in half an hour. Not bothered about reading e-mails on my wrist etc, my eyesight couldn't cope with it and it's not a huge inconvenience to pull out my smartphone. I used to wear a large scuba diving watch so the bulk of the Fenix did not put me off. To be honest when I started wearing lighter watches, I forgot to put them on.

Do you plan to be active indoors or outdoors? OLED is nice indoors but difficult to read in daylight. The Fenix LCD looks rubbish under artificial light, in the shop, but is excellent outside, even in direct sun.
