    P910 or PDA?

Just trying to get some opinions on this. Basically I'm getting sick of squinting at my current phone (Nokia 6610) when using calender/organiser etc. and I do use it quite a lot.

I've been looking at either upgrading to a Sony P910, or alternatively get another cheap phone and buy a separate PDA - although my finances might just tell me to get another free phone....

Basically I'm trying to see cost of either option and the functionality that would be granted to me for the cash outlay.

Any input would be great, cheers.

    Whats the priority?

If its PDA functions, get a K700i and a seperate PDA.

I'm thinking that the priorities are going to be contact management, calender etc. - basically using it to organise my life, but I want it to be easier than it is at the moment.

That is for starters anyway, although most likely I'll end up making use of whatever functions the PDA/phone provides.

My concern over getting the P910 is the ability to make notes etc. and how that is going to link into my existing setup.

you can make notes by writing on the screen etc (but you probably now that), can link via bluetooth to existing PCs etc.

(also its sony ericsson...the ericsson bit is important...otherwise it would just be expensive, not expensive and good

Certainly is, Im sure PDAs offer the same too, but the P910 has great handwriting recognition, makes sending txts a piece of pie

I am moving towards the P910. A mate of mines got one, so I may have a closer look at that. Either way though, both a P910 and the PDA options are a lot bulkier than my current phone - somethings gotta give for the added functionality I guess!

....Oh, and it would look pretty when its in its cradle on my desk ....

There is indeed an ipaq phone edition available, going for around 400 quid.
It's absolutely useless though, makes a pigs ear of being a pda and a phone tbh.
Powered by a weak 168mhz Texas instruments OMAP processor makes it useless for any emulation, can barely tolerate video playback at low bitrates and according to most reviews is one of the sluggiest pocket pc's around, and with a processor like that, I'd say it will live up to reviews
Go for an XDA II i iif your looking for a pda phone, or p910i

I'd definitely recommend the i-mate JAM/MDA Compact/XDA Mini simply because it combines everything into a small tidy and neat package.

You might want to check out a number of reviews though: 1 , 2
(There are more pictures and comparison shots on the previous page in link 2.)

I had the same issues as you, PDA and a fone or a 910, got the 910 and its a nice little bit of kit, only issues I have with it is the fact it locks up sometimes, I keep turning it off accidently when i have it to my left ear due to the placement of the power button other than that its a nice fone and its got chess on it, whatelse do u need

The 910i is a great bit of kit. It has replaced my hp2210 pda very nicely indeed. It is fully compatable with outlook and syncs quickly and easily. I highly recommend it.

That said there is a lot to be said for the PDA, with a whole host of accessories (wifi and GPS to mention just a few).

One issue my friend has with his p900 is that it only accepts cards up to 128mb (which makes it an mp3 player, but with crap storage), my PDA on the otherhand will handle 4gb cf cards. Not sure if the memory issue is sorted with the 910, but I would definitely check that first.
