    Anyone own an ipad pro/ipad

My 2013 macbook pro is on its last legs..was thinking of replacing it. These days I only use it as a media consumption device youtube etc. So I was wondering about a ipad or ipad pro. Yes its not a full os but has come a long way. I like the idea of jotting notes and or doodling with the pencil. Opinions welcome.

Depends what you want to do, an iPad with the Office suite would do 95% of what I want more or less for work bar the programming side, I've got a pencil, but never use it.
Also, whats wrong with the Macbook for it to be on its last legs, you can swap the batteries out, replace spinners with SSD's and add more RAM soo....

I could replace the battery as mine is shocking now but I think OS updates are coming to an end also.

OS updates could be an issue, depending on what you are using it for, just did an upgrade on a mate of mines Mid 2011 iMac, more RAM, SSD, reinstall, back up and running..

Just beware that apple are moving to arm, so buying an X86 mac right now means you will probably get shafted a couple years down the line.

I was having similar thoughts a while ago. My requirements came down to:

    Can it play MKV/MP4?
    Can it read comics/magazines?
Can I upload training material from LinuxAcademy etc?

In the end I couldn't justify the price of an iPad over a Fire10. I went that way and have been pleasantly surprised. Plus when my youngest smashed the screen on it a couple of weeks ago, it's not cost the Earth to replace it, although for that reason I guess, I've not found anywhere who will replace the screen.

If it's purely for media consumption, decent Android is as good as iPad IMO.

Left the Apple ecosystem completely. The flexibility/compatibility support or lack thereof just got too much. I also do not like how they are always right and the customer is wrong. Many clients with issues had to take legal action before apple admitted their mistakes or not and just paid clients off.. Still great hardware thou.
