Vodafone UK visual voicemail for iOS (finally)

I've been a Vodafone customer on and off (currently on) several times over the last 20 years. It's always bugged me that they don't offer visual voicemail like EE, O2 etc have been doing for at least 10 years!

As it's a feature I miss, I check their website periodically and noticed today that it has finally been introduced in the last couple of months.

    https://www.vodafone.co.uk/mobile/visual-voicemail

As per the link above, all you have to do is text 'STATE' to 100121. I did it this morning, and instantly received an SMS confirming VV had been enabled. Sure enough, it was then enabled. Happy days.

Never heard of it. Thought it was leaving a video voicemail!

Seems there are plenty of Andy apps that do it already, and I suspect the vast majority of VodaCustomers will be on that, so perhaps that's why they've not bothered until now?

Wow finally caught up with EE and O2. Any word on if piggyback networks will get access?

It's a feature that shipped with the first iPhone in 2007, but UK networks were slow to adopt it. It's actually pretty mundane, all it basically means is having your voicemails presented in a list so you can see how many messages you have, how long each one is, choose which order to listen to them in, scrub back/forwards through the message, etc. It's just more user-friendly and less time-consuming than having to call 121 and listen to the Vodafone lady droning on 'you have 3 new messages, press 2 to listen to your messages, etc...'

From a quick google, it looks like O2 were offering it in 2007, and EE in 2012, which makes it all the more baffling that it's taken Vodafone so long! I know they have more Android customers than Apple, but it's such a basic feature to not offer. But hey ho, better late than never...

I had another quick look on Vodafone's site as well as a couple of their MVNO's (Voxi and Talkmobile) but can't see any mention of them getting VV yet. I guess it'll take a while to filter down to the MVNO's, knowing what Vodafone are like. I guess their defence would be that there have to be some advantages to paying the premium to be with them, rather than the cheaper alternatives.

My girlfriend is on voxi and she's got VV - but it does just show as 'vodafone' in the top right so I'm guessing voxi is just a different name and pricing sceme for the regular vodafone systems.

Yeah I think you're right. I thought they were just another MVNO, but it looks like Voxi is part of Vodafone and is their 'yoof' offering...

    https://newscentre.vodafone.co.uk/pr...voxi-launches/

VOXI is a new mobile offering created by Vodafone, for and with people aged 25 and under, that enables them to use their phones the way they want to.
edit: that age limit rules me out by 20 years. Never mind
