3.5mm headphones for Android
Anyone know of decent headphones for Android with good sound and sensible controls that can pause play and alter volume etc from the cable?
Trying to get my parents set up with smartphones that they can use in hospital wards. I'm thinking either Samsung a32 or one plus Nord CE for the phone in case that matters. I would have got pixel 4a/5a but both seem unavailable now

I would read up on Knowledge Zenith IEMs - they are cheap multidrive IEMs,which have a modular cable systems,ie,they can be wired or use BT dependent on the cable you use. I got a pair of these to use when I was flying abroad a few years ago:

It's for the parents so needs to be simple and something where bits can't pop off and fall under the hospital bed
Plus they'll want a volume control.
Reminds me a bit of the old ultimate ears range from the late noughties

Volume control on cable seems easy, but track control not so much. I'm sure old CD players could do next track & play/pause? But I can't remember what type of cable it was, perhaps it was something more than AUX at the time.
Have you considered getting an MP3 player?
Something along the lines of this Sony Walkman, it's got nice physical controls, something my dad yearns for.

Re: 3.5mm headphones for Android
What format headphones are you looking for? There are dozens of in-ear types with volume and track controls. You could go cheap and cheerful Amazon odd brand ones for less than a tenner each in the expectation that they will go missing so you might as well get several sets.
For on or over ear headphones you might have better luck with a wireless set (controls on the headset) and just use them with a wire (if wireless was a concern), for eg the sennheiser HD250BT that I recommended on the gym headset thread.
Re: 3.5mm headphones for Android
It's a noisy hospital ward so something isolating/cancelling but comfortable enough to wear in bed and fall asleep in if/when they drop off. They're not going to be able to figure out pairing etc in the state they're in at the moment so old fashion cable is the way forward. Needs to have mic as well as the controls.
Budget low as possible but not too point where the things break every 5 minutes. I used to just say get rha but they only do buds now which is really frustrating as their build quality was excellent

Bose quiet comfort 25 are wired and the remote does volume and track skipping. The noise cancelling bit is powered by a AAA battery so that will need to be charged, but is better than the noise cancelling I have used on other headphones. It is possible to convert them to bluetooth. I wouldn't pay full price but they do come up on offer. I got my ones from CEX.
I haven't used the QC 35 but they are can also be used wired, but I dont think the built in controls will work.
