I liked new notch features, other than that, no big difference

    Re: Apple iPhone 14

Had the iPhone 14 Pro for two days now, managed to pick it up nice and early yesterday morning. So far, I'm very impressed, but with a couple of things that I'm not as happy with as I thought I would be.

The camera absolutely stomps on everything I've used before, it's nearly as good as my Nikon DSLR for everyday shooting. The files are enormous and the 128GB capacity will be rammed full in no time if I take too many in that format, but the quality of the images is something else. Truly amazing.

The Dynamic Island, despite its silly name, has really impressed me with how useful it is. I listen to a lot of music while using my phone, so it's largely just for having Spotify up there, but things like the FaceID pop-up, phone calls, messages coming in, all that kind of stuff, they just overlap what you're doing and don't intrude too much. I'm really enjoying that.

Battery life, especially compared to my iPhone 12 mini, is sensational, I've played with it all day, and I mean all day, and I've got 24% left now, after taking it off charge at 7:45 this morning. It's been glued to my hand today.

The overall design, with the Dynamic Island included, is the best Apple have released yet, in my opinion. It's such a beautiful phone. I had a look at all 4 colours in the Apple Store and they're all lovely. Very much in love with Apple's current design language, including the iPad, MacBook, Mac and so on.

    Now for the negatives.

The Always-On display isn't what I expected. It's adaptive, so it tries to match your surroundings, so if you're in a bright room, it's bright, if you're in a dark room, it's dim. But if you're in a room with changing light, for example my living room with trees outside the front window, with the light changing, the screen is constantly adjusting and catching my eye on the coffee table. It's also a bit confusing, putting an iPhone into your pocket with the screen on is very jarring, after over a decade of making sure it's locked first.
It has its uses, and I'll keep it enabled for the time being, but I may end up disabling this feature.

The other negative is the weight of the thing. It weighs a bloody tonne, I feel like I'm working with two iPhone 12 minis, it's so heavy. I think it'll take me a long time to adjust to the weight of it.

    Re: Apple iPhone 14

Probably going to return my 14Pro, not enough of an upgrade over my old 12 Pro (now sold regrettably) and I can easily continue with my 13 Mini till the iPhone 15 comes along.

Really? Why? I'm absolutely loving mine, upgraded from the 12 mini.

Because I have a 13 Mini which I love and compared to my old 12 Pro it's not really much of an upgrade compared to what it cost to upgrade.

I did look at the Mini's but getting older and eyesight not what it was so a slightly bigger phone was in order.
