    best UK network?

hey guys, once my contract has run out with vodafone i will be changing phone and possibly network.

What i basically want to know is what is the best network in the UK?

I DO NOT LIKE O2, i had ots of trouble with them when i had them (texts never sending, etc) and still get the *some text missing* when recieving txts from o2 friends.
Never had T-mobile, but my mum was on virgin and had a horrible time.
For the last 3 years i've been with vodafone, which ive been generally pleased with, apart from some calls not connecting (always at the worst times!), does this happen on all networks.
My dad's with orange after beign with o2 last year, and he loves it.

    Wat you all think?

Vodafone, without a doubt is the best UK network, with the largest mobile network equalling the greatest signal. I would not go with orange, as you WILL notice the difference in lack of signal compared to Vodafone.

I am currently on an o2 contract, after being with Vodafone for AGES.. and I notice the difference in the lack of signal in my own bedroom. I also get calls which disconnect because of a sudden lack of signal, this problem I never had with vodafone.

Basically if you want a great network, which you can use all around the UK, without many problems, and worries on the signal front, then stick with them. Although they may not always be the cheapest.. (thats why I moved to o2).

I was with T-mobile excellent service, excellent reception but too expensive for me.

Im with Three right now, very cheap, lots of minutes but the reception is not acceptable for me. Its fine when your outside but when your in certain buildings u get in between little and no reception.

Orange for customer service, o2 for persuading me to stay with them for another year I was thinking of going back to orange from o2, but when I called up, they offered me a free sony k750i, £15 quid line rental for the next year for £200 xnet and 150 text. Was too hard to refuse, although I may call back tomorrow and see if I can get a free bluetooth headset

I have been on all the networks at some point, except 3. I have been with O2 Online for about 3 years now and quite happy with them. Mainly because they are the only network with reliable signal at my house, but also because after you pass 2-3 years they have given me and my gf very good deals. I have known people on 3 and all hateted them for various reasons and left. It's hard to say who is best as it all depends on where you live and your circumstances. T-mobile are not the best for coverage. The same with orange in rural area's. My work mobile is Voda and signal is always good, but i don't deal with billing etc so can say what the CS is like. Everyone has had bad experiences with some of the networks at some time so there will be horror stories for all them. I tough question, but I am happy with O2. They have solid data services too IMO.

I'd go with Orange due to the fantastic deals they have and the good customer service.

O2 would be second. Great deals and the least branding on their phones out of the big four. Their customer service and billing really lets them down.

Never had any reception problems with any of the operators, but I live in London so I guess that's what you would expect.

Voted for Vodafone, coverage and reliabilty I've found is the best out of the networks I've been on, (out of t-mobile and o2)

Only ever had Orange and O2 and O2 wins by a mile. Orange has much better CS but then how often do you use it!?

O2 has much better deals, i mean PAYG online its 1MB GPRS and 300 txts for...nothing! You have to top up £10 a month but then that can be spent on calls. Can't beat that for value

I know three have serious problems

    TMobile are expensive

If I was going contract I'd god orange or vodafone

lol @ the ppl who voted for 02 or T-Mobile as a good network

cheap, but theres a reason. Things like extortion in the way of support calls, poor coverage outside of cities (relative to orange and voda), terrible, terrible data setup...

not likeing 02 T-mobile are almost as bad, but if your running a business they can be very cost effective.

Orange and Vodafone are on a par with each other, similarly priced, similarly extensive networks, both with free support..orange wins for business with me, but voda for personal use.

    I totally agree with that

I know that's what some friends believe aswell

I like the orange dual number (one personal one business) through single phone.... that's quite good

vodaphone and oranges extensive out of city coverage is useless to people who live in cities and can't find decent reception. i'm at brunel uni(well during term time anyway). not a single person i found at uni could ever get good vodaphone signal around campus and in lots of areas in town. This included me and a whole bunch of people who had previously been ok with vodaphone. there are very few area's in slough(around where i worked before uni) in ealing and in uxbridge where i get full signal on my phone, its adequate most of the time but at uni its awful. most of my m8's switched straight away to orange/t-mobile and o2 as all had far better signal where we needed it. i've been waiting for a decent phone to be available before i switched, and should have a k750i on o2 on my desk in the morning(/prays).

there is no best network, if you can borrow a few m8's phones over a few days on diff networks and see which networks give best signal in the places you spend most of your time and thats probably gonna be the best network for you.

as for customer services, when i wanted an upgrade from a cheapo sendo phone to, anything, after 3 years worth of contracts for me, my rents have been with them for 4/5 years nothing, they said over the top of full price upgrade. officially i had only been on that contract for 8 of 12 months, but didn't have any upgrades on other contracts. o2 kinda suck in so far as i tried their o2 x4 phone and its a joke that a phone company can endorse making a phone that crap, but they took it back, refunded my money and made it free shipment back to them with no hassel, previous have been on o2 and have found no problems with them at all.

brothers on orange and he's happy with them too.
