What's the best way to make your own ringtone by editing an audio file (mp3/wav/wma whatever).
eh?
If you phone accepts mp3 files your sorted.
I use the nero wave editting software to convert mp3 to WAV ( max 30 secs long ) and then simply drag and drop it to my memorystick on the phone
What phone you using 0iD as different phones can use different media?
If memory serves, you have a C500 SPV.
Problem is with it, is that the bloody thing won't play MP3's as ringtones. It will however play a .wma file.
So, use a wave editor to chop the audio clip up that you want to use, save it as a .wma file, then put it into the Windows directory on the phone. You'll know if you've got the right directory since you'll see other audio files (.mid files mainly)
Go to Settings/Sound then change the ringtone to whatever you want. Job done!
Oh - and I can't seem to change the sound for SMS etc so if you work that out let me know![]()
Make it mono and about 64kbps or less too and save a bit of space. It's only a ring tone.
I suggest Audacity which it free and very good. Nero Wave editor will do as someone else said if you have that. Also pop along to www.downloads.com. There are loads of MP3/midi ringtone creators for the total noobs now.
Just found out - you can put them in Storage/Application Data/Sounds
Keeps things far neater if you put them in there. If you put SMS tones in there you can also access them![]()
