    P910i PC Sync probs

    Hi,

I've just bought a P910i to replace my mobile and pda. All looks good, but....when I came to sync it with my pc (running XP) the software and drivers appear to install ok but the pc doesn't see my pda. The icon in the task bar knows somethings connected but when I try to sync it says

"no phone has been identified by the Sony Ericsson phone connection monitor, please connect and define your phone"

I'm really stuck, I thought I'd followed all the installation steps.

Any help would be much much appreciated

    Thanks

    Chris

Did you install off the CD or download the latest software off the web? If you install of the web, it seems to miss a bit. I had a similar prob with mine, I don't think its *quite* the full package, even though it looks all there. Ran the install off the CD, then updated and bingo, worked fine.

Also, any ideas how to clear you list of missed calls without switching the damn thing off? been bugging me for a while now.

    P910

    Chris,
I am having the exact same problem and I get the same message when I try to run any of the apps. I called Sony Ericsson support and they walked through all of their issues with me. They told me that the phone is fine and recognizing the connection, but there is something keeping the phone from communicating with the computer. He suggested turning off all anti-virus and firewall utilities and uninstalling any other syncing software. I have tried several things but nothing has worked yet. Let me know if you figure anything out and I will do the same for you. Here's to hoping it is a simple fix!
    Best,
    Boomer

I think a forum member had a similar problem with their P900. Apparently it was solved by turning off their firewall and anti-virus software.

Not exactly the best solution in the long term.

    Hey all,
Yes, I installed it on a different computer after turning off all firewall, anti-virus/spyware software and everything works fine. Apparently you have to have those off when you install the P910 software. If you just turn it off after installing the software it still will not work. It has to be off before installation. Hope that helps.

I must try this when I get home. At the moment I got round the problem by installing another instance of XP without antivirus and firewalls etc, and then copied my outlook bits across. It's a pain in the backside, but it works.

Incidentally, what antivirus software are you using?

This was driving my crazy until I found a solution (that worked for me anyhow). I found that Norton Internet security was blocking access for mRouterRuntime.exe.
After I created a rule to allow access all worked fine.!!!

If this dosn't work try creating a rule to open port 1085 - though I don't know if this will allow any other nasties in.

Following extract from my security log when I enabled access
"The user has created a rule to "permit" communications.
Local address: All local network adapters(1085).
    Process name is "C:\Program Files\Intuwave Ltd\Shared\mRouterRunTime\mRouterRuntime.exe"."

    Hope this helps ... !!!
